DOCUMENTATION
During my four days of On the Job Training in Del Mundo Eye Clinic located at 2 nd
Floor, Trinoma, EDSA, Quezon City, I have learned and seen the different diseases involving
our eyes. I have also learned that due to advances in our science and technology, there are
already modern machines and equipment that can help optometrists and orthoptists in early
detection of eye diseases.
My practicum experience in Del Mundo Eye Clinic has helped me to choose my course
in college, since I was able to witness the day to day life and work of a doctor, the different
patients and diseases they encounter, the care and diligence in the way they ask the patients on
the history of their sickness, the medicines and treatment they prescribed. Their stories and
testimonies of their triumphs, struggles and challenges they face in the medical profession.
The experiences in school that I find most valuable during my four days of practicum were my
training in punctuality, discipline and being responsible. Reporting on time for my On the Job
Training, doing and completing my work and assigned tasks efficiently and properly were
equally important. I have learned the value of cheerfulness and being attentive to the needs of
the patients, helping them understand their sickness and providing cure and remedies bring a
smile to their face and joy to their hearts.
To improve the Practicum Program, I suggest that the students be allowed to do the On
the Job Training on regular school days, instead of Christmas break, or during weekends since
On the Job Training also involves learning, studying and actual application of what we have
learned in school. The tips that I would give those who will undergo Practicum Program
include among others: keeping an open mind and a positive, cheerful attitude, applying the
Christian values that we have learned in our school to the work place, observe and learn from
the professionals their work ethics and the way they handle clients, customers and others.
Lastly, enjoy and have fun while doing your Practicum Program.

Practicum Experience
At the start of my On the Job Training (OJT) on December 28, 2016, I had an orientation
with Dr. April Joyce Decrepito, the Optometrist, who acted as my immediate job supervisor
all throughout my OJT. I was briefed on the operation of the clinic, its doctors, the
different eye diseases, the patients they handle and the medical equipment they used. I
was tasked to assist in the inventory verification of supplies and other medical
requirements. On the succeeding days of my OJT, I was given the opportunity to observe
and assist the doctors in their interviews of the patients on the history of their illnesses,
consultations and treatment of patients. I also assisted in the medical and supplies
preparation, optical supplies quality control.
Acknowledgments
I would like to acknowledge and express my gratitude to the owners of Del Mundo Eye
Clinic, Dr. Jade Del Mundo and Dr. Cynthia Del Mundo who were very nice and
encouraged me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor someday. Dr. April Joyce
Decrepito who patiently oriented me on the medical profession and the operations of the
clinic, for guiding me in my day to day tasks. The different doctors and staff for sharing
their time and giving me useful ideas and concepts that I may use for future purposes as I
pursue my degree in medicine.
