How to use Computer in the Classroom.


 
2. Content- Subject matter/ Key vocabulary

My plan is about teaching teachers how to use computer and integrate it in the classroom. I will
use Windows XP sitting.
I will include basics lessons about computer software (Windows, Microsoft office),and Internet .

Key vocabulary:
1. My Documents, and My Computer.
2. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
3. Internet.

 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-

1. Teachers will be able to developing their computer skills.


2. Identify appropriate competencies for learner.
3. To Create an Individualized Skill Development Plan
4. Changing of learner’s type of thinking and learning.
5. To help primary staff build an interest in using the internet to enhance their
teaching.
 
4. Objectives- Performance/ Behavioral Indicators

1. Learn how to use the basic features of computer.


2. Identify effective strategies for teaching computer skills to adults.
3. Learners are having basic computer skills; The computer case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
4. By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to recognize what the goal of this class is.
5-By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to use computers as a required tool of the
classroom.

1. “Use language as explicitly as possible to minimize irrelevant connotations and inferences that
may be drawn by adults”.
2. “Instructors should avoid technical jargon when teaching
adults about computers”.

curriculum to individual learning styles and needs, and to teach to students’ interests and

1. Locate the class in a lab that is equipped with computers.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction- Tim: 45 min

Introduce the basics of computer desktop to easy navigation (Windows XP).

1. Desktop.
a- What is a desktop?
When you start your computer, the first thing you see is the desktop. The desktop is your work
area.
b- Taskbar: By default, the taskbar is located on the bottom edge of the desktop. You can click
the taskbar and drag it to other locations. The Start button, active program buttons, icons for quick
access to programs, and the current time are located on the taskbar.
c- My Computer: The My Computer icon provides access to the resources on your computer. You
can access your drives and other peripherals by clicking on the My Computer icon.
d- Internet Explorer: The Internet Explorer icon launches the Internet Explorer browser.
e- The Recycle Bin: When you delete an object, Windows XP sends it to the Recycle Bin. You
can restore objects that are located in the Recycle Bin or you can permanently delete them.
f- Shortcut icon: Icons with an arrow in the lower left corner are shortcut icons. Click the icon for
quick access to the object they represent (program, document, printer, and so on).
g- Program, folder, and document icons Program, folder, and document icons do not have an
arrow in the lower left corner. They represent the actual object and provide direct access to the
object.
 
B. Development and Procedure - Time: 1:45 min
1. Microsoft Office 2007.
a- Introduction to Word: working in how to create Documents, Text basics, Insert (clip art,
template, picture), Saving files and Printing.

b- Introduction to Excel: setting up Excel and working on Starting a Workbook, Creating Simple
Formulas, Working with Basic Functions, Sorting, Grouping, and Filtering Cells, Working with
Worksheets.

c- Introduction to PowerPoint: Presentation Basics, Text Basics, Themes and Background Styles,
Pictures and Clip Art, Inserting Movies, Inserting Sound.

d- Access; Understanding Database Concepts: Why Do I Need a Database? Exploring an Access


Database, Building the Database, Creating and Using Forms.

2. Internet.
What is the Internet?
What is the World Wide Web?
Modems, Browsers
Types of Internet Access
Create E-mail, send, receive, and attach files and pictures.

C. Practice- Time: 15 min

Activity #1: (In Class).


Allow students to practice each unit after it is taught as a group practice (4 students in each
group).

Activity #2: (In Class).


 In Windows: working individually. Teacher will ask learners to browse Windows by themselves
and write down what the difficulties they encounter during the browsing and discuses it.

Activity #3: (homework).


Creating at least 1 file in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access include the main formats they learned.
Activity #4: (homework)
All students send me an E-mail contain at least one file and one picture.

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Allow students to ask questions during instruction to help clarify information. It is


important to not only anticipate many questions, but also to encourage students to ask
them. Also, schedule time outside of class to be available to answer student questions.
2. Provide opportunities for students to complete hands-on activities at their own pace.

3. Chick their homework to make sure they understand the class well.
 
 
7. Evaluation-

Use the following three-point rubric to evaluate students' work during this lesson.

 Three points: Students were highly engaged in class discussions and devised well-
researched.
 Two points: Students participated in class discussions.
 One point: Students participated minimally in class discussions.

Ask a few important questions to students:

1. Were (as student) your expectations of this course met?


2. What would you have liked to learn that you didn't?
3. What was the most helpful thing you learned?
4. Would you recommend this class to a friend?
5. Please share comments about any aspect of the day.

8. Teacher Reflection-

 Do I encourage students' questions and curiosity?


 Do I encourage students to rethink, reorganize and refine their ideas?
 Do I collaboratively using simple language and learning experiences to students?
 Does my classroom environment encourage students to take risks during
computer activities?
 Do I provide a variety of resources and experiences to meet the needs of all
