Reference:: Reasons of Failure of Main Relays

Main equipment power systems rely on large and expensive power transformers, requiring reliable protection. Backup relays provide extra reliability to power systems and high voltage lines by acting as a secondary line of protection that is attached to equipment with their own relaying system. They are designed to operate only when the main relays fail to trip the circuit breaker due to mechanical defects, DC power supply failure, tripping pulse failure, or current/voltage input failures from potential transformer or current transformer circuits. As a secondary protection, backup relays must be slower than the main relay system so they only activate once the primary system fails.

Introduction:

Main equipment power system ka power transformer hota ha jo bht mehnga hotta ha isliye uski
protection bhi achi honi chahiye. Balkay high voltage lines bhi extra reliability demand karti ha.Ya extra
reliability power system ko backup relays provide karti hain. Backup relays asi relays hoti hain jo
equipment kay sath attach hoti hai with their own relaying system. In ka maqsad tab operate karna hota
ha jb failure hojai tripping karnay ma circuit breaker ka due to main relays.

Reasons of Failure of Main Relays:

• Mechanical defect of moving parts of main relay.
• Failure of DC power supply to the relay
• Failure of tripping pulse to breaker from relay
• Failure of current or voltage to the relay from PT or CT circuits.

In wajah ki say aik illehda scheme use karni parti ha jiska sarra system main relay say separate hota
ha.khuch baar maintenance ya troubleshooting ya koi aur wjah say hummay main relays ko
disconnect karna parta ha uss waqt backup relays ki wjah say humay cct ya equipment ko interrupt
nahi kanra parta.
Kunkay backup relay secondary line of protection ha isliye issay slow hona chahiye main relay
system say takkay tab hi act karay jab main system fail hojai.
