PROPOSAL FOR THE MOVING IMAGE PROGRAM FINAL PROJECT.

1. EXT. SUNSET. THE HOUSE YARD.

ACTOR looks scared. He heads backwards towards some trees,
looking at the house horrified. Suddenly, two black hands
start emerging from the bushes. FELIPE feels them but
remains silent. He starts breathing desperately. The hands
close his mouth, and there is a blackout.

2. INT. NIGHT. MOVIE ROOM.

Credits start running on the wall. The children, ANDRES,
JOSE, DANIEL and FELIPE, are watching a movie. Some look
scared, others sleepy. JOSE stands up, and shuts the
projector off.

DANIEL
That was a good film

ANDRES:
And scary, though.

FELIPE:
Yeah, very good and everything but I’m hungry, let’s eat.

JOSE:
Uh yeah, my parents left frozen pizza.

ANDRES:
When will they arrive? It’s getting late.
 JOSE:
I don’t know. 9:30? They were in the village, in the mayor’s
house, arranging some aspects of the scripture of the
estate, I don’t know, something like that.

DANIEL:
It’s 7 o’clock, it’s still early.

FELIPE:
You can discuss this while we eat, let’s go!

The children exit the room. There is a close-up of the

projector, off.

3. INT. NIGHT. THE PLAYROOM

The children are in the second floor. Andres and Jose are playing
ping pong, Daniel is playing solitary, and Felipe is teasing
the ping pong players. There are plates of food all over the
place, showing that the characters have already eaten.

DANIEL:
(looking at his watch) Its now nine-thirty!

ANDRES:
I’m sleepy.

FELIPE:
Don’t be a baby! We should play a board game or something. Or
making forts with the sofas. Something like that.

DANIEL:
 Jose, we should steal some of your parents’ whisky…

JOSE:
Yeah, shut up. They’d kill me if they arrived and you smelled
like alcohol.

DANIEL (Returning to his solitary):

Bah! You are so boring.

JOSE:
Andres, let me play this round. We can turn the chimney and
make marshmallows. And I don’t know. Talk about life. Daniel
can tell us about Gaba.

ALL:
Uhhhh.

DANIEL:
Yeah shut up.

The children keep playing for a while. Suddenly, we hear a loud

noise that apparently comes from outside.

ANDRES:
What was that?

JOSE:
I don’t know.
(A door shuts and a woman screams)
JOSE:
 It’s coming from the groundkeeper’s house!

The children see through a window. We see a curtained window, that

has a light room. Through the curtain we see a woman’s shadow,
that is walking backwards with her hands in a defensive position.
Suddenly, the shadow of a man gets into the action, grabbing the
woman hardly, taking her mouth, and both shadows go to the floor.
The screams cease to sound.

DANIEL:
What the fuck just happened?

FELIPE:
Jose will your parents arrive soon?

ANDRES:
This is SO messed up.

JOSE (after a brief pause):

They should arrive in an hour. It would be wise to lock the
doors…
In the moment JOSE says this, the sound of the bells of the door
and a door shut sound in the first floor. ANDRES starts screaming,
but DANIEL puts his hand on his mouth. FELIPE and JOSE stare each
other.
FELIPE:
Perhaps your parents arrived.
JOSE:
Yeah, sure. Lets check.
We see through another window. There is no car, no anything. If
the spectator is attentive enough, he can detect the man that is
standing besides the window of the house, in the yard.

JOSE:
There’s no car, no anything. They haven’t arrived yet.

DANIEL:
So what was that?

JOSE:
I don’t know.

FELIPE:
We need to make something; someone should go down.

ANDRES:
You’re crazy! I’m not going down.
D
DANIEL:
When then you won’t but shut up. I think two of us should go and
see who’s there. I volunteer. Who else?

JOSE:
I’ll go with you. We may take these sticks. We can’t be
unprotected. (They take two sticks). I’ll take my phone. If
anything happens, I’ll call Felipe. Understood?

FELIPE AND ANDRES:

Understood.
DANIEL and JOSE take the sticks and start walking down the
stairs. JOSE makes the cross sign, and we see them disappear in
the dark.

4. INT. NIGHT. HOUSE CORRIDOR-LIVING ROOM AND KITCHEN

Everything is dark until JOSE turns on the light. The corridor
is alone. We have a few moments of appreciation of the corridor.
Both children walk through the corridor. We see this in various
perspectives.
DANIEL (whispering):
Its apparently lonely.

JOSE (whispering):
Yeah. Still, lets check the door. The doors of the corridor are
always locked. I don’t know if they still open. The only opened
door is the kitchens. Let’s see.

DANIEL:
Ok.

They continue their way. We see the living room, that is all alone,
the curtains opened, and we can see the deep night outside. They
head to the kitchen, when they suddenly hear a sound.

DANIEL:
What was that?

JOSE:
I don’t know. It seems to come from the rooms. I’ll go and
check.

JOSE heads to the corridor, and approached a room that’s now lit.
 5. INT. NIGHT. PROJECTOR ROOM
He enters the room and sees the projector, that was there for the
movies, on and without films, just the shadow. He heads to the
window to see what could’ve happened. We see his shadow now. His
shadow, reflected on the projector’s light, is looking to the
window. Suddenly, the shadow of a man comes from behind, taking
his mouth and suffocating him to death. We hear little sound, only
the projector.

6. INT. NIGHT. KITCHEN-CORRIDOR

DANIEL is still checking the kitchen. He locks the door and heads
to the corridor. In the midway, the light of the corridor shuts,
and we can hear footsteps from the rooms. DANIEL enters the
bathroom and locks himself into the shower. He calls FELIPE.

FELIPE:
Is everything alright?

DANIEL (nervous):
There’s (gulp) someone in the house.

FELIPE:
What do you mean with…?

DANIEL:
SHHH!

The lights of the bathroom turn on. We can see, slowly, the shadow
of a man heading towards the door of the shower (one of the old
shower doors. DANIEL breathes deeply, but he contains himself.
There’s a closeup to the shadow’s hand, that is heading towards
the door. Slowly, it begins opening the door. DANIEL starts
breathing more deeply and desperately. There’s a cut.
 7. INT. NIGHT. PLAYROOM.
A scream is heard through FELIPE’s phone, in the call with DANIEL.
The phone is hanged. There is a long silence.

ANDRES:
What’s happening?

Heavy footsteps start sounding in the first floor. We hear the

wood crack. The footsteps are slow, but they appear to come closer.

FELIPE:
It’s coming here!

ANDRES (crying):
We are going to die!

FELIPE:
Quick! Lets find a way out! (Analysing the room) That’s it! The
window!
They start searching for ways to go down. They find nothing that
can help them. FELIPE looks desperate. The steps sound closer.

FELIPE:
We need to jump.

ANDRES:
What?!

FELIPE:
 It’s jumping or dying here. You go first. (Seeing ANDRES won’t
do it) Alright I’ll go first.

8. EXT. NIGHT. THE GARDEN.

FELIPE climbs the window, and after taking a deep breath, he jumps.
He falls in the garden with pain, but still alive. He injured his
leg. He makes signs to ANDRES to jump. ANDRES starts climbing the
window as well. Suddenly, the shadow of the man comes from his
back, and drags him into the house. We hear loud screams, and then
nothing. FELIPE looks scared. He heads backwards towards some
trees, looking at the house horrified. Suddenly, two black hands
start emerging from the bushes. FELIPE feels them but remains
silent. He starts breathing desperately. The hands close his mouth,
and there is a blackout.

9. INT. NIGHT. MOVIE ROOM.

o children finish watching the movie. They are completely different
from the others. One stands up, turns the projector off.

CHILDREN:
Could you imagine that was real?
