Q1. Find the zeroes of the polynomial f(x) = 2x² - 5x - 12, and verify the relationship
between the zeroes and the coefficients. (2)

of each she bought she answered, “ The number of pants is one less than twice the
number of skirts. Also, the number of skirts and twice the number of pants together are
three”. How many skirts and pants did she buy? Form the pair of linear equations and
find their solution graphically. (4)

Q14. Show that the straight lines represented by the equations

3x + y + 5 = 0, 3y – x = 5 and 2x + 5y = 1 are concurrent and find the


coordinates of the point where they intersect. (4)

Q15 Determine graphically the vertices of the trapezium, the equations of whose sides
are : x = 0, y = 0, y = 4 and 2x + y = 6. (4)

Q3 For what value of K will the following system of linear equations have infinite number
of solution? 4x+3y=3, (2k+3) x+ (2k+1) y=4(k-1).

Q4 Determine the value of k so that the following linear equations have no solution:

(3k+1)x + 3y-2=0 ; (k²+1)x + (k-2)y-5=0

Q5 Four years ago a mother was four times as old as her daughter. Six years later, the
mother will be two-and-a-half times as old as her daughter. Determine the present age
of mother and daughter.
