Grade 4 Math Cot

This document is a daily lesson log from a 4th grade mathematics class. The lesson objective was for students to find the area of triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids using square centimeters and square meters. The teacher presented examples of finding the area of triangles using grid paper, parallelograms, and rectangles. Students then practiced independently and as a group. The lesson concluded by deriving the formula for finding the area of a triangle based on its base and height.

*Is there a line in the triangular pond?
*How long is its base?
*What is the height?
*What is asked in the problem?
*What will you do to solve the problem?

Group Activity: Recall the rules and standard for doing activity. Literacy

I. Using grid paper, count the whole squares and squares partly covered by the triangle, the area is 30 sq m.
II. By using a parallelogram. Make a triangle with a base of 10 meters and a height of 6 meters. Solve the area of parallelogram and a triangletriangle.
III. By using a rectangle. Draw a triangle with a base of 10 meters and a height of 6 meters. Solve the area of a rectangle and triangle.

E. Discussing new concepts and After the presentation of the groups, ask;
practicing new skills #2  How did you find the activity?
 How were you able to find the area of the triangle?
 In how many ways were you able to find the area?
 Were you able to use your previous learnings ?
