DESCRIPTION:
The course covers the evolution of patrol during the prehistoric times compared to the
present organizational set-up of a patrol force, its functions and responsibilities, to include types
of patrol, strategies, tactics and techniques: patrol supervision; and its functional relationships
with other police units. It includes study and usage of the existing police communications,
equipments. Moreover the importance of written reports anchored on the five W’s and one H.
OBJECTIVE:
1. Appreciate and understand the resounding importance of patrol management and operations.
2. Realize that Patrolling is not just walking the assigned beat but ensuring the security of the
people in the neighbourhood.
3. Differentiate Law enforcement from maintaining peace and order in a certain locality.
4. Master the preparation of a report as a means of communications using the five (5) cardinal
questions of 5W’s and 1H.
