Task 1.

What to do???

1. Divide yourselves into some groups consisting of 6 students.


2. In the group, 1 student play a role as the teacher and 5 students become the students.
3. Arrange the seat into a circle. The teacher stands outside the circle.
4. Each student in turn tells the teacher what they want to say. It can be in English or in
Indonesian. The teacher reformulates or translates it by using correct form of English.
5. The students say the reformulation/translation and record it.
6. Build up a manageable chunk of conversation by using the words reformulated/translated
by the teacher, then record, stop, play the record, and listen to it.
7. For the teacher: write the conversation on the whiteboard. If the students ask question
about language, explain briefly. If the students want to take note about your explanation,
this is the time.
8. Go back to your role as university students. On a piece of paper, write a reflective essay
about your experience in the role play you have just played. Your essay must consist of
a. Identity
b. First paragraph containing introduction to the topic
c. Second paragraph containing explanation of the steps/ procedure of teaching and
learning you have just practiced.
d. Third paragraph containing what you feel or your opinion about learning English
by using this method
e. The last paragraph containing the conclusion of using this method and tell the
possibility of using this method in Indonesian senior high school.
