Topic: Interrogative sentences Skill: Grammar and usage

Teaching materials and resources to be used: Chart and chalkboard

Lesson objective: By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to apply knowledge of grammatical
rules at sentence level and identify different types of sentences such as a question (identify and explain
a question).

Monitoring homework: The teacher checks to see if learners have done their homework about a
friendly letter and instructs them to hand in their comprehension exercise books for marking.

Stages of the lesson:


Introduction: Ask the learners various random questions related to the lesson, to arouse interest and
wonder, which will help them guess the topic of the day.
Presentation: Give a brief explanation of what an interrogative sentence is and then highlight the
purpose of interrogative sentences. Ask the learners to give examples of interrogative sentences and
their purposes. Give them a short exercise in relation to the topic and corrections.
Conclusion: Recap on the lesson with the learners and then give homework.
