1. Establish and locate the control points, profile elevation, horizontal and vertical from the
edge of the structure, centerline and the slope intercept with the aid of total station and
prism.
2. Once that the control points are established, mark the stakes, take and record the
necessary information including station of stake, elevation on ground at slope, slope
distance to centerline, offset distance, rate of slope and other data.
3. Record the actual elevation of the ground and set out slope stake at the project offset
distance beyond the intercept location.
4. The survey work will be continued to assist and monitored all the construction activities
until the completion of the works.
Steel piles expose to weather should be coated….., and mark every 10cm to half and every
meter up to the maximum length of piles

Rock armoured construction on two separate location with two different cross sections and
slopes will start considering the elevation of the embankment. On account of this, the
construction will undergo two stages in relation to embankment (first stage at first stage will be
after the embankment fill reaches the elevation of +2.3 c.d. and the final stage will be after the
completion of final elevation for embankment.). The following section will discuss the most
suitable method in accordance with the different factors, the characteristics of the rocks to be
installed, location and the working condition of the area.
1. Prepare the area for installation. This will typically involve a process of shaping of the
slope, levelling and smoothening of the depression or uneven surface prior to laying of
geotextile. The equipment to be used on the marine side and landside area are as
follows:
FF Cruz will be using be using crane mounted to barge, Felipe 3 to lift the geotextile cloth
materials, armour rocks and other consumables/tools that will be installed on the
submerged area.
FF Cruz will be using backhoe and mobile crane for lifting activities and support for
manual shaping of the sand profile.
2. Woven Geotextile will be supplied in rolls with 4 meters in width and 50 meters in length
and 200 square meter per roll. Moreover, it will be placed by rolling down the sheet at the
entire slope manually to maintain and secure the geotextile shape and alignment. It

should be stretched as tight and as flat as possible and laid in accordance to engineered
plans or site recommendations. Moreover, 1000 mm of length must be allotted for the
lapping portion of geotextile cloth. Furthermore, steel pipe will be utilized on rolling and
laying of geotextile roll in order to weigh down the geotextile sheet while it is on the
submerge state.
3. Provide an allowance of 1000 mm for the successive sheets of geotextile in accordance
with the drawing and specifications provided. On the toe line side, an allowance from 1
meters to 2 meters is required.
4. Fabric should be secured along the edges and then at overlapping portions. A
professional diver will check the alignment of the installed geotextile;
5. Loose armour rock will be placed directly on the geotextile in accordance with the design
drawing for securing the installation of geotextile from washout;
6. Repeat the same process of operation from step 1 up to 5 until the completion of the
works.
Preparation
Ocular site inspection from the source of the armour rock will be conducted by the QA/QC and
the Client’s representative. Armour rock will undergo a series of testing and sampling as
specified on the contract to assure that it complies with the required specification.
Sources of Materials:
1. Montalban, Rizal.
2. Angat, Bulacan
On January 9, 2019, actual survey was conducted/done together with AECOM and FFCCI
representatives in the Direct Point Quarry – Montalban, Rizal. They took samples for amour
rock, secondary rock, granular subbase, angular aggregates (14 mm to 15 m) in sizes and
coarse grit with sizes ranging from 2mm to 6 mm and the results passed the requirements of the
specification.
Direct Point Quarry also own the source number 2 which is located in Angat, Bulacan.
In general, armour rocks the weighs 12kg and 120kg as specified in the construction drawing will
be handled and transported at the specified stockpiled area from the source. Dump trucks of
required number and capacity will be used for hauling and transport of the armour rock from the
temporary stockpiles to the final placement position.
Installation Process
Eventually, the method of armour rock placing will be land-based operation. Placing of armour
rocks will commence at the toe and shall proceed upward until the top portion limit of the
temporary rock armour activity attaining the steep natural slope of about 1:3 at seaward and 1:2
at creek, the approximate angle of repose as stated in the construction drawing. Rock armour

installation at toe will be done using Crane with bucket due to long reach distance and deep
elevation. When placing of rock occurs at shorter distance and shallow elevation Excavator will
be used to continue the operation.
The method of placing rock armoured will be discussed from the section below depending on the
location.
A typical construction sequence for a seawall protecting a reclamation was discussed below.
1. Preparation of the area. Prior to the installation of rock, check and inspect the underlay
geotextile, it should be free from humps and smooth. Guide (marker buoy) will be
provided for the direct location of rock placement;
2. Placement of 2 layer of rock armour of 12kg in weight from toe and proceed upward as
secondary rock armour;
3. Placement of 2 layer of rock armour of 120kg in weight from toe and proceed upward as
primary rock armour;
4. The installation of rock armour will be checked and inspected by the professional diver to
assure the location, thickness and slope was being met. Finish rock armour slope shall
be placed to thickness shown on the construction drawing;
5. Repeat the installation process from 1 to 4 until the completion of the work. In case that
there is void profile, appropriate stone will be used to fill in.
