INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, we are faced with issues and concerns regarding the environment. People
tend to ignore the do’s and don’ts in preserving the natural state of our surroundings. That is
why we, the researchers, are proposing “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” concept – this aims to
educate everyone in the community the basics of how to manage their garbage properly
specifically plastics. We encourage everyone to practice this for these reasons:

1. The atmosphere is already polluted.


2. We are experiencing global warming.
3. Wastes are massively increasing every day.
4. We are the only ones who can prevent it from making it worse.

This concept may be expensive in terms of recycling plastics into something useful like chairs
because of its processes but apart from that, it costs zero cents to reuse items.

RATIONALE OR BACKGROUND

You may wonder what Reduce, Reuse and Recycle means and how it works or how it
would be of help to us and our community. Well, first of all we have to know the meaning of
each word. According to Benthany Wieman, Reduce, meaning cutting back or making small
changes. The most essential way to reduce plastic is to avoid creating it in the first place. Reuse,
it means looking for ways to repurpose discarded items. For example, cleaning used jars and
using them for storage. And lastly Recycle, it means transforming wastes into something more
useful. We all know that using of plastics have its pros and cons. It is a disadvantage since
plastics take thousands of years to decompose and it can be very harmful to the environment
because some people burn them for different purposes. Even though plastics are like that, it’s
still a big part of innovation. Plastics can be seen in different forms and purposes – chairs, bags,
decorations and many more that is why it is also an advantage to the society. We would like to
propose this concept to help save our Mother Earth and to inform everyone about what it feels
like to be able to help and save the environment all together.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVES

The concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle aims to discipline everyone in the community
to make use of their wastes for a better purpose rather than being thrown at the landfills.
Instead of filling up wastes on dumps and even on streets, this idea can help lessen the damage
that has been done to our environment. Wastes like plastics can be recycled into new forms of
artwork while wastes like banana peel can be used as soil fertilizers.

METHODOLOGY

In order for this to be an actual project, the researchers need to propose it to agencies
and look for funding to support it. If approved and with given consent, plan for the processes
needed for it to be in action. After all the meeting and planning, proceed with preparing for the
materials and looking for constructors for the said project.

BENEFITS

Following this concept has several advantages which includes the following: cutting
greenhouse gas emissions, conserving energy and resources and reducing the need for landfills.
This also makes the environment cleaner and safe to live in. There will also be a lower health
risk since wastes are lessen and are not scattered everywhere.

October 2019 – Approval of Project Proposal

October 2019 – Looking for the desirable agency to support the Project

November 2019 – Addressing a letter and conducting a meeting to the funding agency

December 2019 – Planning for the Project

January 2020 – Preparing for the materials needed


February to March 2020 – Finalization and presentation of the trash bins recipient

other expenses for the production and manufacturing processes.
