Job Description

JOB TITLE: Sales Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Responsible for targeting new commercial, corporate and meetings & events business. The
role will include sourcing and targeting viable clients to promote the Hotel and its products.

The role holder will be expected to generate their own leads and present the products at the
senior management level within target organisations. This is an autonomous role that will
require a highly motivated individual with a hunger to achieve.

Being part of the Team you will be given a good understanding of our brand vision, which, along
with the rest of the team, you will make happen through our values and behaviours for each other,
our guests and owners. We do this by following our stool model.
RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Account management of some corporate accounts (commercial and meetings & events).
This includes, but is not limited to, pro-active management of the accounts, addressing
any shortfalls appropriately, regular meetings and contact with all accounts, targeting
new accounts as required, cross-selling Hotel products to all accounts.
2. Pro-active agency (both commercial and conference) sales to deliver new business. This
includes, but is not limited to, prospecting calls to agencies, site visits at agency offices,
showrounds at the Hotel for agencies, hosting fam trips for agencies, account managing
new agency accounts.
3. To deliver the existing business development strategy to target new clients to the Hotel.
This focuses on proactively seeking and securing new business opportunities to meet
annual revenue targets.
4. To generate volume, corporate and M&E sales through development of new accounts.
This includes, but is not limited to, pro-active management of new M&E contacts to the
Hotel, generating new leads for M&E sales, prospecting calls to new M&E leads.
5. To identify and establish potential new sales opportunities for all Hotel products and
respond positively to such opportunities.
6. To ensure that timely, accurate and persuasive presentations are made to prospects.
7. To host familiarisation tours/visits/functions for maximum effectiveness
8. To ensure a full understanding of the hotels sales budget for the year in order to drive business
forward.

9. Conduct research, telesales and prospecting projects for commercial, conference,


incentive, leisure and banqueting business.
10. Complete monthly owner’s report in the absence of the Director of Sales; reporting on
all sales activities and outcomes for commercial, conference, incentive, leisure and
banqueting sectors for the previous month and reporting on future activities for the
forthcoming month for commercial, conference, incentive, leisure and banqueting
sectors.
11. Maximise all sales opportunities through research of accounts and upselling
techniques
12. Research and development of new business from market segments key to Hotel
corporate, commercial and M&E business.
13. Positively contribute to the sales activities within the Hotel
14. Provide support, if needed, within the M&E Sales Department to maximise sales and
limit any loss of opportunity
15. Support the implementation and monitoring of all company marketing initiatives.
16. Contribute to the implementation of the annual sales and marketing strategy
17. To accurately record all customer enquiries and bookings, maintaining account files
and records. Ensuring all trace calls are completed in a timely fashion
18. To maintain accurate, up to date records and information to appropriate internal
contacts, responding to requests in a timely manner
19. Record and deal with all customers’ comments in a positive manner and take
appropriate follow up action, turning any negative customer experiences into positive
ones.
20. To have a good knowledge of all Hotel facilities, tariffs and rates in order they are
sold to their best advantage.
21. To develop a good knowledge of the local area and local competitors to enhance
services provided to the guests.
22. To create the right customer care attitude towards all clients demonstrating the ability
to create rapport over the phone.
23. Follow hotel strategies when handling enquiries to maximise occupancy and rooms
profitability for accommodation & conference, ensuring a good understanding of
departmental budgets/targets.
24. To ensure relevant deposits are received when due and all event revenues are
charged onto the correct accounts and all accounts are checked out accordingly.
25. Attend and report in the weekly Sales Strategy meetings and attend departmental
meetings as required.
26. To undertake duties of work outside the normal weekly routine but within the overall
scope of the position at the request of your line manager.
27. To maintain and adhere to Company policies and standards at all times.
28. Understanding Company requirements regarding health & safety policy, COSHH,
fire and bomb procedures.
29. To report any irregularities, defects or damage of equipment of facilities to
Management immediately.
30. To carry out any reasonable task as requested by Management.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

o Minimum 5 years experience within a sales role
o Proven track record within a sales environment
o Driven towards maximising sales and meeting departmental budgets
o Ability to build strong rapport on the telephone
o Ability to engage at all levels
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Accustomed to working in a busy, fast moving organisation
o Ability to think fast to deliver solutions on day to day issues
o Organisation and time management skills
o Efficient in using Microsoft office and computer applications
o Attention to detail
