Ewater Systems COVID-19 Guide

This document provides information about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), including how it spreads, symptoms, and risk reduction measures. It notes that COVID-19 is an enveloped virus that is likely susceptible to disinfection by electrolyzed water solutions like eWater Sanitizer. While no product can currently claim effectiveness specifically against COVID-19, research indicates electrolyzed water is effective against similar enveloped viruses and standard hygiene practices can reduce transmission risk. The document provides references on electrolyzed water research against other viruses.

Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Tuesday 10 March 2020

What are Coronaviruses?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness
in animals or humans.

In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause

respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to
more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory
Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS).

The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus

COVID-19. It is recognised that COVID-19 is in a classification
known as ‘enveloped viruses’.

Maintaining good hygiene standards is vital to minimise the risk of infection.

Transmission routes for COVID-19, include:

In accordance with government recommendations, infection risk can be reduced by taking the following actions:

Will my eWater Hygiene System work on Coronavirus?

At this time, no commercial disinfectant on the market can make a claim for COVID-19 as it is currently not possible to test this virus. It is unlikely that any manufacturer will
be able to promote such a claim in the near term (or possibly this year).
