CONCERT 1
1. Into the Clouds! – Richard Saucedo
2. With Quiet Courage – Larry Daehn
3. Rollo Takes a Walk – David Maslanka
4. Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs – Frank Ticheli
5. Courage March – Henry Fillmore/arr. Nicholas J. Contorno
This concert features a lively opener that is entertaining to not only the audience, but the students
playing as well. It is followed by a piece that inspires students to play musically and connect
them emotionally. After that, a piece with very memorable aspects that audience members will
be singing later on. It would be a great piece for a first concert at a lower income school. The
biggie piece challenges musicians with different keys and time signatures while playing simple
melodies. The concert will end with a march that is entertaining to listen to and trades of the
melody between various sections.

CONCERT 2
1. Toccata for Band – Frank Erickson
2. Salvation is Created – Pavel Chesnokov/arr. Michael Brown
3. Abracadabra – Frank Ticheli
4. Postcard from Pittsburgh – Robert Buckley
5. March of the Belgian Paratroopers – Pierre Leemans/arr. James Swearington
This concert will begin with a concert band classic. It contains many solo lines and interlocking
melodies. It will be followed by a piece that was originally written for voice that is inspiring and
inspires musicality. After a very musical moment, the ensemble breaks loose and has a fun
novelty piece. This will show off different sections and finish with a big bang that will be
exciting for the audience and ensemble. Following that piece will be a biggie piece that has
various themes that interchange and develop to become the drive to the end. The final piece is a
march that is not incredibly demanding but still light hearted and enjoyable.
CONCERT 3
1. Fanfare and Flourishes – James Curnow
2. Come, Sweet Death – J.S. Bach
3. Foundry – Frank Ticheli
4. The Saints Hallelujah – arr. Henderson/ed. Brown
5. Fortress – Frank Ticheli
This concert begins with a piece that doesn’t require full instrumentation, but still is powerful.
The ballad inspires students to play musically and will have an emotional effect on the audience
as well. The novelty of this concert will change a listeners’ ears as they hear the instrumentation
that is required by this piece. The next piece is a unique combination of When the Saints Go
Marching In and the Hallelujah Chorus. This will inspire students to begin listening on a
different level. The concert will finish with a march that trades off lines/jobs in the ensemble
such as woodwinds playing quarters while low brass plays the melody.

CONCERT 4
1. First Landing Celebration – Michael Oare
2. Sleep by Eric Whitacre
3. The Last Ride of the Pony Express – David Shaffer
4. First Suite in Eb – Gustav Holst
5. Amparito – Jamie Texidor/arr. Winter
The concert opens with a piece that is energetic and joyous, a great opening piece. It’s followed
by a classic in the concert band world that people of all ages will recognize and love. The
novelty piece will entertain the students playing as well as audience members. The biggie piece
features a classic in the concert band world that will challenge members with various
articulations, keys, and time signatures. The concert will end with an enjoyable Spanish march
that will reach different groups.

CONCERT 5
1. Legacy Fanfare – Ryan Nowlin
2. Rippling Watercolors – Brain Balmages
3. The Blues Brothers Revue – arr. Jay Bocook
4. Air for Band – Frank Erickson
5. Band Together – Larry Daehn
This concert opens with an energetic opener that shows off different sections with flourishes,
fanfares, and punctuation. The ballad is not necessarily a technically challenging piece, but one
that requires musicality. The novelty piece is one that many parents will enjoy while students get
to learn fun jazz riffs. The next piece will show off the students musical phrasing abilities while
not being incredibly technically challenging. The final piece is a march that will be remembered
by all in the audience due to the catchy themes.
