Introduction
Vibro stone columns are
inclusions of a granular material

1866
which are formed in the ground,
improving the load bearing
capacity and limiting both total
and differential settlement.

Stone columns can be installed

in groups under isolated loads or
directly under linear loads such

1866
as strip footings. Columns can
also be arranged in a grid pattern
to provide support to uniformly
loaded structures such as ground
floor slabs and embankments.

713 Stone columns are suitable for

1713 the improvement of both weak

1866
natural soils and made ground
1713 with typical improved bearing
1713 capacities ranging from:
1985 50kN/m2 to 150kN/m2.
1985
Method
1985
Stone columns are formed
using a hydraulic vibrator

1866
which transmits vibrations to
the ground by way of a poker.
1567

Roger Bullivant Limited utilises its

own fleet of in-house designed
specialist plant which is equipped
with variable moment vibrators
which minimise the transmittance
of unwanted vibrations.
