A DEUTZ-FAHR tractor was having issues shifting into 3rd and 4th gear. The service team inspected the machine and found that the 3rd and 4th gear forks were bent. They repaired the forks, reassembled the gear assembly and transmission, and tested the machine. Shifting was then functioning properly in all gears.

Gear shift function is abnormal

Symptom

No 1,2 & reverse gear is ok but no 3 & 4 gear is can’t shift

Troubleshooting /Service Step


-Checked the gear link
-Checked the lock synchronizer of no 3 & 4
-Checked the gear shift fork of no 3 & 4
-Checked the gear condition of no 3 & 4
-Checked the secondary shaft condition
Analysis

Action and Suggestion


Our service team arrived at job site. Then we inspected the machine. No: 1,2 & reverse gear is ok but no 3 & 4
gear is can’t shift. So, we checked the gear link and drained the transmission oil. After that we separated the front
gear box and rear gear box. And then we disassembled the gear assembly. We found that no 3 & 4 gear fork is a little
bent. So, we repair it and assembled the gear assembly. Next we reinstalled the gear box assembly & filled the
transmission oil. Test run the machine. All was ok.
