Educ 650- Internship
As I completed my internship rotation during the summer and did not have the
opportunity to conduct a classroom observation, I will use a previous observation experience I
had from an observation conducted by my administrator using the clinical supervision model.
Pre-Conference- When working at Duval PK-8, my assistant principal, Mrs. Brown was
responsible for conducting my observations as a 1st year teacher. She knew I was extremely
nervous and did not know what to expect to be evaluated on, so she had a pre-conference with
me a week prior so I had plenty of time to prepare. In this conference, she told me her
availability and I was able to decide what time I wanted her to observe in my classroom. I chose
math and I wanted to prepare a lesson based on what we were learning that week.
Observation- Mrs. Brown observed in my room at the time scheduled and did not interfere with
the lesson. She sat in the back corner and noted things on her computer throughout the lesson.
My kindergarteners at the time were working on shapes, so we created shape pizzas. Students
could choose how many of each shape they wanted to put on their pizza, but were required to
write the number of each.
Analysis- She conducted an analysis based on my observation after leaving my classroom and
then emailed me to schedule a Post-Conference.
Post-Conference- Mrs. Brown pointed out the strengths of my lesson and told me she would
work with me on improving transitions. She reviewed what she scored me on the evaluation and
explained why she chose each score.
