Programme Overview
Flange Management 5 days training Programme provides the trainee with the necessary underpinning
knowledge and practical skills to make and break flanged joints with manual bolt-up methods. At the end
of this course all participants will be competent in ensuring the integrity of flanges on pipework and
vessels in process plants.
This Programme offers participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills on piping system, bolt
tightening (torqueing & tensioning) and techniques of tightening sequences.
Course Outline
1. Plan and prepare for job
Identify work requirements
Inspect job site
Confirm isolations have been completed to standard
Confirm hazard controls
Coordinate with appropriate personnel
Select appropriate tools
Check calibration and certification of tools as required
Complete checklists and records as required
2. Break flange in accordance with flange management procedure
Prepare tools, drip trays, and so on with appropriate care
Connect any required drain lines
Undo nuts in accordance with procedures

Methodology
To enhance learning effectiveness, hand on experience will be emphasized in this Programme through
role-plays in class presentation, group facilitation and class critique.
Case studies, group discussions and video support will also be used to enhance learning experience. Fun
quizzes will be injected to provide formative assessment and a fun learning environment.
