The aim of this lesson is for students to revise all they have learnt this term about fractions

LESSON RUNNING SCHEDULE: Time frames

Transition: 15 mins max
As students come in from recess, have note on board to sit with 2 o’clock buddy.
Also have written on the board to get ready for mental routine and that they will
need mini whiteboards and markers.
Once all students are sitting down quietly, go through mental routine (created by Me
(below)). Go through answers after each question, calling on students from time to
time.

1. What is 2/3  5/6 = 4/5
2. Draw a fraction model that represents 2/7
3. What is 1/4 x 2/5 = 2/20 = 1/10
4. What is 1/4 + ½ = 3/4
5. Can you please draw me a fractions model that represents 5/6
6. What is 3 x 1/4
OPEN
7. I made 3/4, can you give me an equivalent fraction
8. Show me three different ways to write/draw 2/10
9. Create any type of fraction with an odd denominator and an even numerator

Introduction: 5 mins
Recap what happened last lesson (dividing fractions).
Explain that this lesson will be a revision of the entire fractions unit as the test will
be tomorrow.
Explain that most of the tasks this lesson will be done in pairs. Go over some group
rules that students should follow such as no yelling, let the other person share their
ideas.
Development: 40 mins
Refresh students memory of multiplying and dividing fractions and then put the two
types of questions together. Ask students to work in pairs on mini whiteboards. Go
through how to do it on the board then have students try another one in pairs again.
Go through answer. Ask if one group had a different approach. Once students
understand that, give students a word question to work on in pairs. After 2-3
minutes, get students attention back on the board and go through how to answer a
word question. Have students try two more in pairs.

Consolidation and practice: 20 mins


Have a range of worksheets and games at the front of the class for students to try to
develop their skills more.
Ask students to have a think about what they need to work on before the test
tomorrow. Have a range of activities out the front of the classroom for students to
engage in to consolidate their thinking and understanding
Conclusion WWW reflection: 5 mins
Gain all students attention back at the front of the classroom and recap lesson. Exit
slip to leave classroom.
