Some Kind Of Disaster – All Time Low

Camera

 Shot/reverse shot used to show interactions between characters


 Close ups of characters allow the audience to connect with the characters and band
members
 Long shots of the band show them in the entirety so the audience views them as one but by
also using close ups the audience can form connections with each band member
 Low angles are used to make the band seem bigger and more powerful, giving more
meaning to the song

Editing

 Ellipsis used to compress time to show the progress the characters are making
 Cuts between narrative aspect and performance aspect

Mise-en-scene

 Location – based in two locations, one where a wellbeing group is held, for the performance
aspect, and another in a warehouse type room where the band performs
 Performance – each character acts like the personality they have been named after
 Costume – Each character is dressed like their personality, each band member adopt these
types of clothing in order to represent the idea that we all have those personalities inside us.
Ie. White clothing for the ‘saint’ character

Sound

 Diegetic sound – narrative aspect at the start of the MV, makes up the first 25 seconds

She’s Kinda Hot – 5 Seconds of Summer


Camera

 Close ups of instruments


 Medium close ups of band members, with a lot of camera tilts upwards
 Long shots and medium close ups used predominantly in the narrative sections
 Long shots used to show the band in its entirety
 High shot that tilts upwards to the sky to finish the video

Editing

 Cuts between narrative aspect and performance aspect


 Graphics used in a comic book theme way
 Shows band members singing together but shot separately and pieced together

Mise-en-scene

 Location – Set in a house and street outside


 Costume – casual dress
 Lighting – Day light, night time shots with lighting from ‘stage’
Sound

 Non-diegetic
 Use of diegetic sound at the start
 Speech can be heard at points in the song

This Is Gospel – Panic! At The Disco


Camera

 Starts with a close up that zooms outwards


 Close ups and medium close ups predominantly used in the ‘surgical’ scenes
 Long shots used in the shots with the singer trying to escape from ropes

Editing

 Cuts between different angles

Mise-en-scene

 Location – Operating table and blacked out room


 Performance – lead singer is in the narrative of the story
 Costume – ‘surgical’ costuming
 Props – ropes used to show he his trapped in the situation

 Non-diegetic sound
