manufacture of Heat Exchangers as per our Job No. PE-2464~2488, as applicable.

PART (A) – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.0 Material Specification: ASME SA-234 WPB

2.0 Delivery Condition: As per specification. (If Normalized, Normalizing temperature shall not exceed 955⁰C). C(a)

3.0 Governing Code: ASME Section II, Part A, 2019 Edition

4.0 Manufacturing:
a) Vendor shall check adequacy of thickness of pipe before forming of fittings and ensure that pipe thickness
is sufficient to take care of wall thinning during forming.

5.0 Dimensional and Profile Examination:

a) Dimensional Standards: ASME B16.9 – latest edition
b) Fittings dimensions and profile shall conform to the requirements of applicable standard.

6.0 Tolerances: Tolerance on wall thickness as per specification is acceptable. Fittings are preferred with nil
negative (under) tolerance on wall thickness.

7.0 Repair / reconditioning of fittings by welding is not permitted.

PART (B) – CHEMICAL AND OTHER TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

8.0 Chemical Requirements:

a) Below restriction on the elements shall be applicable for both ladle and product analysis.

Elements Acceptance limit

Carbon (C) ≤ 0.23% C(b)
Carbon Equivalent (CE) # <= 0.43%
- The micro alloying element boron(B), titanium(Ti), niobium (Nb) and vanadium(V) shall not be
intentionally added to steel
# where CE = C + (Mn/6) + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Cu + Ni)/15

b) All other chemical requirements shall be as per material specification. Individual % of above mentioned
elements along with as required by material specification shall be reported in MTC.
c) Product Analysis as per S2 on each heat basis.

9.0 Mechanical Testing: Testing shall be performed in both as delivered condition and after carrying out specified
Simulation Heat Treatment (clause 10.0). Test results shall conform to requirements given in this document and
applicable material specification whichever is stringent.
a) Hardness: 197 BHN max.
b) Impact test of material at 0°C. Impact test value shall be 24J average and 16J min. for one specimen. The test
piece shall be taken transverse to the final rolling direction of material.

10.0 Simulation Heat Treatment: Test specimen shall be subjected to SR-1 simulation heat treatment as detailed
below:
Description SR-1
Loading Temperature (Max.) 400°C
Rate of heating (max.) 70°C/hour
Soaking Temperature 610°C±10°C
Soaking Time (min.) 7 Hours minimum
