Description
The PowerLab 4/25T is a data
acquisition system suited to teaching
applications. With appropriate
transducers and accessories the
PowerLab 4/25T can be used to
perform a broad range of human
and animal experiments. The unit
can record up to 200 000 samples
per second and features individually selectable input sensitivities, analog output
for stimulation or pulse generation, a high speed USB connection, built-in isolated
stimulator, built-in dual bioamplifier and a powerful internal processor along with
low- and high-pass filters. Chart and Scope software is supplied with the hardware unit.

Computer System Compatibility


PC Computers:
Pentium processor based system with minimum 32 MB RAM.
Windows 2000 or later.
USB hardware is required for PowerLab operation.

Macintosh Computers:
PowerPC based system with minimum 32 MB RAM.
Mac OS X or later.
USB hardware is required for PowerLab operation.

Chart & Scope Compatibility


The following versions of Chart and Scope software are required to operate a
PowerLab 4/25T:

WINDOWS MACINTOSH
◆ Chart v4.2.2 or later ◆ Chart v4.2.1 or later
◆ Scope v3.6.13 or later ◆ Scope v3.6.10 or later

Applications
The PowerLab 4/25T can record biological signals from humans and other
sources, with full electrical isolation, and can also be used for any general-
purpose stimulation. It is recommended for education applications.

Also approved to requirements of AS3200.1

500 Hz, and 1, 2, 5 kHz. Frequency accuracy is ±2%.

Audio output: Stereo output supplying signals from both Bio Amp channels.
Suitable for earphones, headphones, or most externally powered
speakers. Output is a 100 mV signal for any input range.

Isolated Stimulator Output


Output configuration: Constant-current stimulator with hardware limited repetition
rate

Pulse duration: 50–200 μs (software-selectable)
Compliance voltage: 100–110 V typical
Output current: 0–20 mA in 0.1 mA steps (software adjustable)
Pulse rate: Software-selectable, but hardware-limited to a maximum of
20 Hz for safety
Safety indicators: A single multi-colour indicator displays the isolated stimulator
status. A green flash indicates delivery of a valid stimulus. A
yellow flash indicates an out-of-compliance condition.
Safety switch: Provides physical disconnection of the stimulator from
the subject

External Trigger
Trigger mode: TTL level (isolated) or contact closure (non-Isolated), software
selectable
Trigger threshold: 1.2 V ± 0.5 V (TTL compatible)
Hysteresis: 0.5 V (turns off at 2.8V ± 0.25 V)

Front-ends connected to the PowerLab’s analog inputs. Interface
communications rate of up to 10,000 bits/s.
