Trainer: Good morning and welcome everyone to our friendly school, King Solomon Institute Incorporated. In behalf
of our school’s management, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing us as your training
center. I am EMAY JEAN M. PESCADERO a national TVET Trainer in Bookkeeping NC III.

Trainer: Now, let me check your attendance. Please say present if you’re around. Maiden Laine Andrade, Daryl Jay
Mamigo.

Trainer: I am very happy to see that you are all around today because in the duration of your training, your
attendance is a must. Your training will be from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. This training covers 248 hours and
so you have to comply the required hours mandated by TESDA. But if it happens that you cannot make it to the
training, then you should notify us ahead of time. Of course, always remember to abide with the school’s rules, you
should follow the dress code, wear your uniform and ID every time you enter the school premises. Are we clear?

Trainer: Okay then, let us proceed to our Orientation proper. Are you ready?

Trainer: At this juncture, I will be acquainting you to CBT or Competency- Based Training. Are you familiar with it?

TRAINER: Requesting everyone to please rise for our prayer. Let us bow down our heads and pray for God’s
blessing. Amen. Please be seated.
Magandang KSI! (WISE SOLOMONIANS!) Welcome everyone. Thank you for choosing King Solomon Institute, Inc
as your training center. I am ________________, a National TVET Trainer for Bookkeeping NC III.

Now I have here with me your attendance coming from the school registrar. As I call your name please say present.

Now, let’s proceed to the orientation proper.


Have you heard of CBT? (play the multimedia presentation)

CBT or the Competency Based Training. In traditional or conventional teaching we do the teacher/trainer centered
instruction like lectures. But in Competency Based Training it focuses on the competency development of learner as a
result of the training, and it is concern with the attainment and application of knowledge, skills and attitude to a
specific level of competency, meaning to say as a trainer and trainee we should anchor the ground rules base on the
Competency standard and Training regulation. An effective method in delivering training activities must be goal
oriented and consistent with the 10 Principles of Competency Based Training

1 The training is based on curriculum developed from the competency standards – learning is based on the
Competency-Based Curriculum
2. Learning is a modular in structure: which means that the trainees must learn one competency after another until
they attain all competencies of the qualification.
3. Training delivery is individualized and self-paced, which means you will learn at your own pace. This is self-
learning. It means you may speed up, slowdowns, stop or even repeat a task, this is not time bounded. It depends on
your capacity and pace.
4 Training are based on work that must be performed. – Which means learning is based on the actual industry
practice.
5 Training materials are directly related to the competency standards and the curriculum modules. – the
competency based curriculum will be your guide to plan both for training and assessment of your trainees. The
learning materials should be developed to attain the assessment criteria in the CBC.
6 Assessment is based in the collection of evidence of the performance of work to the industry required
standard. – a.) Traditional – students are judged against each other (norm referenced assessment) b.) CBTVET –
each student is assessed against the evidences based on the standard
7.Training is both on and off the job components meaning, training is done in simulated either in our Institution or
school partner or in an industry
8 Allows for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – workers and students can have prior learning recognized
9 Training allows for multiple entry and exit- the system allows for learner to enter and exit programs at different
times and levels and to receive an award for competencies attained at any point.
10 Approved training programs are Nationally Accredited, training is registered within UTPRAS (Unified TVET
Program Registration and Accreditation System) means The Institutions is approved training program are nationally
accredited, registered and made by industry expert.

Alright now, let us discuss our roles in this training.
First let us discuss my role as a trainer. We have 8 roles

1 Serves as team leader to determine what is to be learned;
2 Stimulates trainees motivation;
3 Manage learning: a consultation rather than a provider of information, a facilitator of the learning;
4 Diagnose and solves learning problems;
And so on and so forth

And also, what would be your role as a trainee. You have 7 roles

1. Trainees learn at their own rate within program guidelines. They may speed up , slow down, stop or even
repeat the task.
2. Trainees are responsible for what they learn and when they learn it.
3. Trainees decide when they are ready to perform the task or demonstrate mastery of learning to a job-like
level of proficiency before receiving credit for the task.
4. Trainees evaluate their own progress to see how well they are doing.

At this point:
Im going to give you a brief background about Bookkeping NCIII. This qualification is composed of Basic, Common
and Core Competencies with corresponding duration or time and this is based on the training regulation
For Basic Competencies 20 hrs. common 24 hrs and core 248 hrs. For this duration in this qualification , will be
spending a lot of hours, that would be 292 hrs. and equivalent to 36 and a half. .

Those are the competencies that you need to undergo for you to become competent

Throughout the process you’ll be using the CBLM, so CBLM is COMPETENCY-BASED LEARNING MATERIAL.
This tool facilitates individual learning process. So, what is inside the CBLM? it consists of information sheet
which you needed to learn in particular learning outcome and self-check to verify the acquisition of
knowledge an answer key to compare you answer with, a task sheet for single task, a job sheet if you’re
doing a group of task of course with performance criteria checklist.

Here in our training center, we have 9 learning areas. Please stand and let’s have a tour so that you will be
familiar with our learning areas.

NOTE: EXPLAIN AT LEAST 3 LEARNING AREAS


1. Practical work Area - with different stations –work station # 1 and 2 where you can practice your task to perform
satisfactorily
2. Institutional Area – this is where your prior learning is validated
3. Learning Resource Area –where you can read and review the CBLM
4. Support Service Area
5. Computer Laboratory Area – to watch video clips, powerpoint presentations
6. Distance Learning Area
7. Contextual Learning Area – if you have some difficulties in mathematics and science
8. Trainer’s Resource Area – this is where the trainer stays as well as some of the references you will be needing
9. Quality Control Area including

For evaluation, you will only be rated as competent or not yet competent. to determine your knowledge, skills and
attitude. The assessment method we will use, will be written test, demonstration with oral questioning and oral
interview. The assessment method can measure your underpinning knowledge, skills, attitude and understanding
based on the training regulation

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO TAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN YOUR PRACTICE AND DEMONSTRATION

I have here with me the Pre assessment test; So, what is the purpose of this pre assessment test?
1. To determent trainee’s characteristics.
2. To evaluate whether you have a prior learning or current competencies.
3. To assess your training needs and training gaps.

1. Self-assessment – this is answerable by yes or no
2. Learner’s characteristics – this deals about yourself
3. Pre-test – this will identify if you have knowledge about this

You only have 30 MINUTES to ACCOMPLISH THE PRE ASSESSMENT TEST

As I’ve check your pre assessment test it shows here that you, Miss andrade, have a prior knowledge about
UC 1, which is journalizing transaction, please wait for further instruction.
TRAINER: However, you Mr. Mamigo since you have no current competency in this qualification, I will put
your name in the training activity matrix in the UC 1, and you may now proceed to learner resource area.
(PAPUNTAHIN SA LEARNING RESOURCE AREA)

This is the CBLM for UC 1, which is journalizing transaction. You have to read the information sheet, accomplish
the self-check and compare the results with the answer key. You can also proceed to the Computer
Laboratory to view video clips. If you have any questions about concepts of particular topic related to
mathematics, English or science you can go to contextualized Learning Area If you are ready to perform the
activity you may proceed to the practical area. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call my attention
so that I can address you immediately. Okay? You can now start.

PROCEED TO THE TRAINEE WITH PRIOR LEARNING

TRAINER: Miss Andrade, since you have prior learning in UC 1, please proceed to Institutional Assessment area, I
want to validate your Prior learning. This way please.
VALIDATE THE RPL BY ASKING QUESTIONS
TRAINER: Can you show me some evidences? Do you have some certificates?
TRAINER: So, you’ve been working as _(bookkeeper)___ for 2 years now?
TRAINER: Where did you acquire this certificate?
TRAINER: Thank you: This is a certificate of employment. Tell me something your previous job.
TRAINEE:
TRAINER: When did you start?
TRAINEE: To further validate you prior learning aside from this certificates. Please accomplish the written test. This is
for 15 minutes, 30 items and the passing rate is 80%
TRAINEE: I’m done MAAM
TRAINER: Give me a time to check you written

TRAINER: ms. Andrade, Based on the CERTIFICATES that you have submitted. It shows this is valid, recent,
consistent, sufficient and aligned with this qualification and the result of your written test. You got a score of 27/30. A
Satisfactory score. It’s shown that you have a prior learning. I am now convinced that you are competent with
this Unit of Competency 1_____________________.I will record this result to the achievement chart and
progress chart and after that I will include your name in the training activity matrix UC 2. You may now proceed
to the learning resource area and read the CBLM and I will assign you for UC2, which is post transactions.

TRAINER: Mr. MamigoI are you done reading the information sheet? You also accomplished the self-checked
and compared the results with the answer key. Are you ready to do your task?

Okay let’s proceed to the practical work area, here is the task sheet on journalizing transactions, perform this
and check your performance using your performance criteria checklist and don’t forget to follow the safety
measure to always observe the OHS practices. as you perform your task, know where the fire exit and fire
extinguisher. Is that clear ?

(The trainer will saty at the PRACTICAL WORK AREA OBSERVING THE TRAINEE 2)

TRAINER: You were able to perform the task, however you did not put a peso sign on the first and last amounts both
in the debit and credit columns. This is how it should be done, you should put a pesoDid you get it? Are you ready to
perform the activity?

STUDENT WITH NO PRIOR LEARNING: YES MA’AM (the trainee will practice again)
TRAINER: are you ready to perform the activity?

STUDENT WITH NO PRIOR LEARNING: YES MA’AM (the trainee will perform the activity, and the trainee must
observe the trainee 2 on his activity while checking and must have with him the checklist)

TRAINER: Based on my observation, you satisfactorily performed the task based in the Industry standard. I will record
this in your achievement chart.

THE TRAINEE WILL RECORD IT TO THE ACHIEVEMENT CHART (TO BE SEEN BY THE ASSESSOR)

TRAINER: Since you are competent in all the task in this UNIT OF COMPETENCY, you are qualified to undergo
the Institutional Competency Assessment anytime in your own convenience. Just call my attention if you’re ready
to take the Institutional Assessment. If you are not yet ready. You can go to learning resource area to read and review
the CBLM, Computer laboratory to do some research and practical work area to practice to become efficient. So my

Institutional assessment is composed of 3 methods. The assessment method we’ll be having written test that consists
of 30 items good for 30 minutes. The passing rate is 80% you need to get 24 pints. Demonstrations good for 20
minutes perform list of asset, liability, equity, income and expense account titles and oral interview. In order to rate
you as competent. You should satisfy the assessment methods which are written test, demonstration and oral
interview. Please observe safety as you perform your task, be mindful of the fire exit and the fire extinguisher in case
of emergency. Do you have any questions or needs to clarify matter regarding my orientation?

STUDENT WITH NO PRIOR LEARNING: NONE MAAM

Kindly proceed to the practical work area. Here is the specific instruction, read it carefully and observe the safety
measure: be mindful of the fire exit and the fire extinguisher in case of emergency. If you have any question. Please
ask me now because as soon as you begin the task. You can no longer ask questions. You are given 20 minutes to
complete the task. Are you ready to take the task?

2 Why journalizing is needed?
3 Differentiate debit from credit.

TRAINER: So, this is the last method. A 30 item written test good for 30 minutes. You can now answer.

Base on the result of your written test. You got almost perfect score 28/30. Your score is satisfactory. During the oral
interview, you also answer all the questions satisfactorily. For your demonstration, you perform all the tasks needed,
you’ve shown the exact skills that is set by the standard. To sum it up that was a very good performance.
Congratulations I will now record the result to the progress chart and put your name in the training activity matrix. You
can now start the activity in UC2 which is posting transactions

Since you are competent in all the Unit of competency for this BOOKEEPING NC III, You are now qualified to take the
National Competency Assessment.

You may go to any accredited TESDA COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT CENTER and apply for the national
competency. Please bring two passport PICTUREmust be white background with collar and bring 500 pesos as your
assessment fee, you will be asked to fill out the application form and the self assessment guide. And just wait for the
schedule of your national assessment Is that clear?
