The snow leopard is a medium-sized cat found in Central and South Asia. It has a length of 90-115 cm and tail of 100 cm. The snow leopard's habitat spans 12 countries and it lives in rocky, mountainous terrain. In an effort to promote conservation, the state of Uttarakhand in India has begun offering snow leopard tours for tourists.

In The News 
The forestry department of Uttrakhand has 
opened up snow leopard tours in hopes of 
promoting conservation. The state tourism 
department and the United Nations 
Development Program have worked 
together to make this happen. 
  General Knowledge 
● The snow leopard’s habitat extends 
through twelve countries: Afghanistan, 
  Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, 
Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, 
  Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan 
● Climate is cold and dry where the snow 
leopards live 
  ● Live in the broken terrain of cliffs, rocky 
outcrops, and ravines 
● Breeding season is between January to 
  mid-March 
● Gestation is from 93-110 days 
● In captivity, they can live up to 22 years; 
  in the wild more or less 10-12 years 
● They are the only predator to the Red 
Panda 
  ● Prey include the blue sheep, asiatic ibex, 
and argali 
● Only about 4,000 to 10,000 are left in the 
  wild 
● WCS has worked with Afghanistan, 
Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and 
  Kyrgyzstan in conservation efforts to 
protect the species
