Diploma in Agriculture Engineering

The document is a lab report that describes an experiment on electrical circuits. The objectives were to understand laboratory equipment, observe lab safety practices, and apply voltage, current and resistance measurement techniques. Components of various circuits were measured using a multimeter and oscilloscope. The results matched theoretical calculations and highlighted typical differences between measured and ideal values. Overall, the experiment helped students learn fundamental circuit analysis skills.

A. INTRODUCTION

In today's high technology world, the electrical engineer is faced with the design and
analysis of an increasingly wide variety of circuits and systems. Therefore, as students, we
need to use all the theories about electronics learned in class to understand the principles.
In this way, we can understand the flow of the entire circuit more clearly. However,
underlying all of these systems at a fundamental level is the operation of DC circuits.
Indeed, the ability to analyze and simplify such circuits is central to the understanding and
design of more complicated circuits. Furthermore, the measurement and calculation of the
current, voltage, current and resistance of the DC and AC circuits in the circuit are the most
basic and basic measurements that an electrical engineer can make. In this experiment, the
students will become acquainted with the use and limitations of a modern digital
multimeter and oscilloscope as well as experimentally verify the validity of Thevenin's
theorem, one of the key concepts in circuit theory.

B. OBJECTIVE

i. To be able to understand the usage of laboratory equipment and apparatus.

ii. To observe the lab practice norms
iii. To be able to apply voltage, current and resistance measurement techniques.

iii. Function Generator- GW GFG-8015G, GW GFG-8020G and ESCORT EGC-3230
iv. DC voltage source
v. Breadboard
vi. Resistors - 100 Ω, 1K Ω, 560 Ω and 330 Ω
vii. Connecting wires
viii. Probes

D. PROCEDURE

NO. PICTURE METHOD

1.
a. Assemble the
circuit in Figure
1.3 on a
breadboard.

2. a. Determine the
values of each
resistors using
multimeter as
accurately as
possible.

Resistor R1 R2 R3 R4
Voltmeter, V -1V -10 V -5.6 V -3.3 V

Ohmmeter, Ω 100 Ω 1000 Ω 560 Ω 330 Ω

5
3. a. Measure the value
of total of
resistance from
point A to point B
as accurately as
possible.

∴ total of resistance from point A to point B is 2k Ω

4. a. lf 10 V dc source is
connected to the
circuit, determine
the voltage across
each component
using multimeter
and oscilloscope.

Resistor R1 R2 R3 R4

330 Ω 1.658 V -165.8 Ω

7
F. DISCUSSION

a. Generate a sinusoidal Ac voltage that has 5 Vo-o magnitude and 1000 Hz frequency.

b. Wave signal

8
c. Sketch the shape of the wave signal of a square wave and a triangular wave (on a
single graph) that have 10 Ve-e magnitude and 1500H2.

d. ls the measured resistance the same as in theory? Explain your answer.

• There will always have a difference between theoretical values and the actual
observed or measured values. You also need to understand that all theories were
made and based on assumed ideal conditions and therefore will be fictitious in nature
not realistically possible.

9
G. CONCLUSION

Overall, from this first lab we are able to understand the usage of laboratory equipment and
apparatus. It is important so that it will be easier and better for us to proceed with the
experiment process and to make sure that there will not be any error in it. Next is that we
did experience in observing the lab practice norms. For example, with did learn about the
lab precautions and procedures to work out an experiment carefully. Last but not least, we
are able to learn on how to apply voltage, current and resistance measurement techniques.
Even though we did proceed the lab experiment online, we did learn it through a website
to obtain the calculation for every component and to create a circuit with it.
