NARRATIVE REPORT ON EARTHQUAKE DRILL

In connection with the preparation during an earthquake, Robert B. Estrella Memorial National

High School, with its 451 students, teachers and the School Head participated in the conduct of the

Earthquake and Fire Drill last July 23, 2015 at 1:30 PM. The drill aimed to heighten awareness of the

whole populace on what to do before, during and after an earthquake. Proper orientation was given to the

students by the Municipality of Rosales Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, PNP-Rosales,

Rosales Health Unit, and the Bureau of Fire Protection of Rosales before the drill. The objectives of the

drill were successfully carried out by the participants.

In line with the campaign of the Department Education of equipping the students with the

knowledge, proper attitude and skills on what to do in case of natural and manmade disasters like

earthquake and fire Mr. Ferdinand A. Namqui, the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

Coordinator and the School YES-O Adviser led the activity with the teachers and their respective

classes. The drill was carried out simultaneously and smoothly. All students occupied the

designated area for them based on the school evacuation plan.

Everybody in their respective classes ducked and covered themselves under their armchairs and

tables. After that, the teachers led their advisory classes in heading to the designated evacuation area

located in between our Quadrangle and Social hall. They were grouped together according to the class

where they belong. Then, all classroom teachers did a headcount to make sure that all students are

accounted for.

In summary, the drill was successfully implemented and nobody was injured because the routines

were systematic and everybody was cooperative during the activity.
