SAP2000 Analysis Steps

1. The document describes the steps to analyze a single-span double-slope gate rigid frame structure in SAP2000, including defining the model geometry, material properties, sections, supports, loads, and running the analysis. 2. Key steps include drawing the frame components, assigning section properties, setting the column supports, applying dead and live loads, defining load combinations, and running the analysis to obtain results. 3. The summary report generated in SAP2000 allows viewing of component information and results of the analysis.

SAP2000 Analysis step diagram

Example: the workshop adopts single-span double-slope gate rigid frame, with
21m span, 90m length, 9m column distance, 7.5m eave height and 1/10 roof slope.
The rigid frame is the beam with equal section and the column foot is hinged.
The material is Q345 steel and the welding rod is E50 type.
The roof and walls are made of 75mm thick EPS sandwich board, and the
bottom and outer two layers are made of 0.6mm thick galvanized color board. The
2
thickness of the zinc board is 275g/mm ,High strength galvanized cold - formed thin

thickness is 160g/mm 。(No respect for walls)

Natural conditions: basic wind pressure: WO  0.5 KN / m , The basic snow

Surface roughness class B

Calculated by hand as follows:The plant has a length of 90m, a span of 21m, a
column spacing of 9m and a total of 11 trushes of rigid frames. Since the vertical
temperature section is less than 300m and the transverse temperature section is less
than 150m, there is no need to set expansion joints.Purline spacing is 1.5m。
1、 Selection of calculation model
A rigid frame is taken for analysis, the column foot is articulated, and the rigid
frame beam and column are designed with equal section. The eave height of the
plant is 7.5m. Considering the self-height of purlins and beam sections, the
approximate column height is 7.2m. The roof slope is 1:10.
(1)Section form and size selection:
The beams and columns are made of welded h-beams.
The cross section height h of the beam is generally taken as(1/30 ~ 1/45)L ,and

(1 / 30 ~ 1 / 45)  21000  467 ~ 700mm 。 Therefore, the beam section height is

600mm。

Temporarily take H600  300  6  8 ,The section size is shown in the figure。
The section of the column shall be the same as that of the beam。
