An Agile Mindset: How To Create in 5 Steps

IN 5 STEPS
YOUR ROADMAP TO YOUR NEW AGILE MINDSET
Agility is the awareness of change as the new default. The ability to focus on the chances – without
neglecting the risk.
HOW PREPARED ARE YOU TO APPLY THIS MINDSET TO YOUR DAILY LIFE?
You have to accept that this is more than a methodology to truly adopt and live with a new agile
mindset. You have to understand this as a philosophy of success for all areas of your life -
personally and professionally.
I want to show you how an agile mindset is more than “just another working methodology”.
1. AWARENESS
Increase your awareness. Sound simple? Well think about what else is possible for you and your
team? Open up your mind and go for it. Don’t rely on your automatic response. Don’t hold back!
Be aware of exactly how you are thinking. Are you conditioned to focus on that which is not going
well? Or are you also able to see the positive aspects. There is opportunity in awareness of your
thoughts.
2. PERSISTENCE
This is something you have heard already: Persistence is needed for ANY achievement. But think
about how there is a correlation between the needed amount of persistence and how out-the-box
your goal is. Persistence does not just come to you. It is something you build and you train every
day. Use any opportunity in your life to build your persistence, be it in sports, in reading, or any
activity. Remember that persistence is not will power. Will power is the ability to concentrate, to
remain focused on one topic. Persistence is your connection to your desire.
4. SELF-LEADERSHIP
Who is the first person you have to lead? Yourself. “A leader is a person who has people following
them, because they want to.” -Larry Wilson.
Lead yourself first. Manage your emotions to avoid going through life driven by those feelings. This
is a huge task in itself and you have to constantly evaluate your self-leadership and seek con-
structive feedback. Learn exactly how the mind works and learn about discipline. Use this so your
thought process is supporting you in all areas of your life.
5. ATTITUDE
Think about this simple formula:
Excellent attitude = Excellent results
Mediocre attitude = Mediocre results
Poor Attitude = Poor results
Your attitude is a combination of your thinking, feelings, and actions. Develop a deep understanding
of your attitude and actively train it every day. This is not an on-off switch. You are living out your
attitude each day and, again, in every area of your life. This is your configuration – how you ap-
proach things and how you get things done.
This is a guideline to really help you to BE agile in any working framework. It will also help you to
better understand the value and beliefs behind “agile” – and why this is so much more than a
working framework.
Based on my experience and studies, I have come to the strong belief that it is imperative that we
develop an agile mindset to find truly innovative solutions for the challenges that we are faced with
in business and in society too.
