In this module, the topic was on new challenges in contemporary societies. This
discusses about how human societies adapt to new challenges in the physical, social, and
cultural environment. It also analyzes about how human societies adapt to global warming and
climate change. It identifies the concepts of transnational migration and Overseas Filipino
Workers (OFWs) across the world. Lastly, it also discusses about the importance of adaptation
in the physical, social, and cultural environment.

To describe how humans in society adapt to new challenges in the physical,

social and cultural environment, I was taught about how progressive society requires
social change. But to ensure this, we must face and overcome the challenges that will come our
way. This is why social, cultural, and political changes happened, like the abolition of slavery,
adopting a new lifestyle, constitutional amendments, and more.

Adapting to new challenges in global warming and climate change can be

analyzed through knowing its adverse effect on humans and the environment, proposing
current adaptation strategies, seeing the vulnerability of populations to climate change, and
mitigation and adaptation.
