Surigao city is also known for its tradition, there are many kinds of culture and tradition that we
are in the city lets just talk about the famous traditions. Lets start with the "Bonok-Bonok Marajaw
festival". An award-winning cultural-religious festival highlighted by a street dance parade depicting the
legends and lifestyle of the indigenous Mamanwa Tribes. The festival is also a tribute to St. Nicholas, the
city's Patron Saint, whose feast is observed on September 10. Next, we have "Sakay-Sakay Abayan
festival". A procession at sea in honor of the Patron Saint of Barangay Taft, Virgen de la Paz y Buen Biaje.
The patroness of Good Voyage is carried aboard a beautifully adorned lead vessel followed by colorful
motorboats, and banca passing along the historic Surigao Strait.
