Hamza Hanif DLD Lab #1

The document discusses Hamza Hanif's Digital Logic Design lab. It details 4 tasks completed in the lab: 1) Constructing and verifying truth tables for logic gates (AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR) using integrated circuits, 2) Using a NAND gate to build a NOT gate, 3) Implementing and truth table for a circuit, and 4) Using an inverter designed from a NOR gate to invert another circuit's output. It also answers 4 questions about integrated circuit connections, nominal voltage, constructing a NOT gate, and universal gates.

Answer the following Questions

1. Which two connections are necessary for an IC to work?

Answer:-
The necessary connections for an IC to work are power supply
pass and ground connections. IC cannot work without power
supply pins and ground connections.

2. What is the nominal value of voltage (Vcc) supplied to the

IC for it to work?
Answer:-
Different IC's have different nominal voltage (Vcc). but most of
them cannot work if nominal voltage is less then V. It is the
minimal value for an IC to work.

3. To design a NOT gate from a NAND gate, both the inputs

of a NAND gate are fed with the same input signal. Does
this concept hold for constructing a NOT gate using a
NOR gate as well?
Answer:-
Yes, it is also holds for constructing NOT gate using NOR gate as
well because NAND and NOR gate both act as inverter if they
are applied with same input signals.

4. Which two gates are known as universal gates and

why?
Answer :-
NOR and NAND gates are known as universal gate because we
can perform multiple functions using these two gates
