Filtration is a method of separating a solid from a liquid by allowing the liquid to pass through a porous medium (such

as filter paper.

The separation can be slow depending on the weight of the solid. Heavier substances settle faster and the lighter
ones settle slower or sometimes mix with water.

Then, the filtrate was transferred onto an evaporating dish in order to obtain the residue, which is the salt.

During the process of filtration and evaporation, the color of the mixture is gray-white.

It is a learning experience which added to our fundamental knowledge.
