III. PROCEDURE

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson (Balik-aral sa nakaraang aralin at/o
pagsisimulang bagong aralin)
Hello! How are you today? Before you proceed to your lesson, let us have a short recap about the
things you learned in the previous lesson. Answer the following orally.

1. What are the basic tools used in sewing?

2. What are the steps in creating a project plan?
3. Why do you need to plan before doing a project?

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (Paghahabi sa layunin ng aralin)

The pictures on the right side are

different shapes, colors and designs
of pillowcases. Do you have the
same pillowcases at home?

C. Presenting examples/instances of
the lesson (Pag-uugnay ng mga halimbawa sa bagong aralin)
Do you know someone or have seen somebody who is selling pillowcases? Making pillowcases
can be a source of income. Pillows can be the perfect product to appeal to a new market. It’s safe to
assume pillows will be most popular with female buyers and can make great gifts for special occasions.
If you’re looking to tap into new markets this product can give you a new way in!

For today, we will learn on how to make pillowcases.

All you need is:
Scissors
Ruler
Thread
Fabric
Steps on how to make a pillow case
Step 1: Make a "Pattern"

Step 2: Cut Fabric

Step 3: Pin the Fabric

Step 4: Sew-sew along the pinned line

on each pair of fabric.

Step 5: Make the Opening Hem

Fold the "accent" fabric down 3 inches
and pin along the line. Repeat for the
other panel.
Sew along the pinned line on both
panels.
Step 6: Pin the Panels Together
Put the panels right sides together with
the

E. Continuation of the discussion of new concepts (Pagtalakay ng bagong konsepto at paglalahad ng

bagong kasanayan #2)

Different household linens such as:

How to Make a Fabric Table Runner
Step 1: Measure your table lengthwise (if that
is the way you want your runner to go), the
cut a length of fabric approximately 20 inches
longer. I used a pinking shears to prevent the
edges from fraying, but all the raw edges will
be hidden, so it is not essential.

Step 2: Lay out the fabric flat, then fold over a

third of the fabric lengthwise. Line it up so
that it is parallel to the edge, then cut using
edge as a guide. You can save the excess third
to make another runner or use it for other craft
projects.

Step 3: Fold the fabric in half lengthwise so

that the right sides are facing each other.
Starch and iron the whole piece, ironing the
fold flat.

Step 4: Sew the sides opposite the fold

together, creating a long tube.

Step 5: Sew one end together.

Step 6: Clip the corners of the sewn end. This

will help prevent the excess fabric from
bunching up when you turn it inside out

Step 7: Flip the fabric so that the right sides

are facing out, taking care to press out the
corners as flat as possible.

Step 8: Lay runner out and iron flat.

Step 9: Fold unsewn end in so that raw edges
are hidden. Iron flat.

Step 10: Sew around all edges leaving a 3/4-

1″ margin, depending on desired look. You
can sew in one continuous rectangle or do
four intersecting lines (like below).

F. Developing mastery (Paglinang sa kabihasnan)

Question: What skills do you need in making table runners and pillowcases in gaining extra income out
of it?

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living (Paglalapat ng aralin sa pang
araw-araw na buhay)

Direction: Answer the following.

1. How do we draft the patterns for a pillow case and table napkin?
2. How do we fold the fabric when cutting?

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson (Paglalahat sa aralin)

REMEMBER: In order to ensure that the project will come out properly cut, the following procedures
must be mastered: folding the fabric, laying the pattern on the fabric, cutting the fabric, and transferring
sewing lines.

I. Evaluating learning (Pagtataya ng Aralin)

Directions: You will make your own draft on pillowcases or table runner by following the steps on how to
make it. Ask your relatives to guide you and help you to make a pillowcase. Take a picture or video while
you’re doing it and sent it to your subject teacher via messenger.

J. Additional activities for application or remediation (Karagdagang Gawain para sa takdang-aralin/ o

remediation)
Direction: For you to see and understand more of this lesson you can watch a video on you tube on how to
