1. In a sale, Ali buys a television for $195. The original price was $220.

The percentage reduction on the original price is:

220-195/220 x 100= $ 11.36

2. In the sale, Mo buys a jacket for $63. The original price was reduced by 25%. The original price of the
jacket is:

100-25/100 x 63 = 0.75 X 63= $47.25

4. The apples cost Mohsin $0.85 per kilogram to produce. He sells them at a profit of 60%. Work out the
selling price per kilogram of the apples.

5. The price of a bicycle is $1020. Club members receive a 15% discount on this price. Find how much a
club member pays for this bicycle.

100- 15 /100 x 1020= 0.85 x 1020= $867

6. In 2019, the membership fee of the cycling club is $750. This is 6% more than last year. Find the
increase in the cost of the membership.

100 + 6/100 x 750 = 1.06 x 750 = $795

7. 540 tickets out of 630 are sold for a match. Calculate the percentage of tickets sold.

8. The price of another watch increases from $180 to $192 Find the percentage increase in the price of
this watch.

9. Javier invests $750 after a year she gets profit of 18%. Calculate the value of his investment at the end

1. Asif cycles a distance of 105km. He continue to cycle for 2 hours 24 minutes. Find his speed for the
journey.

Time= 2h 24 min= 2 + 24/60= 2+0.4 = 2.4hours

Speed= d/t=105/2.4= 43.75km/hr

2. Jodie travels 66km to get home after the match. She leaves at 5pm and arrives home at 6.12pm.

Calculate her average speed in kilometres per hour.

3. A plane leaves Karachi at 1530 to fly to Bangkok. The distance is 3600km. The plane flies at an average
speed of 720km/h. Find the time when the plane arrives.

Speed= 720 km/h

Distance= 3600 km

Time = d/s = 3600 / 720 =5 hours

Plane arrives at= 1530 + 5 hours = 2030

4. Kiran leaves home at 9.45 am. She drives 135 km to visit a friend. She arrives at her friend’s house at
11.15 am. Work out her average speed in km/h.

5. The train starts its journey at 0930 to cover a distance of 562km, it continue to move at a speed of
97 km/h. Work out the time it reach its station.

6. Paolo rides his bicycle around a track. The distance of this track is 35 km, and it took 5 hours.

Work out the speed of Paolo bicycle.

Speed= d/t = 35/5 = 7 km/hr


7. A bus travels at a constant speed of 90 kilometres per hour. Calculate the distance the bus travels in
22 hours.

Speed = 90km/h

Time = 22 hours

Distance= speed x time

= 90 x 22 = 1,980 km

9. A cyclist travels 120 km in 6 hours. Calculate his average speed.

Distance = 120km

Time = 6 hours
