INTRODUCTION
A symbol is something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention.
However, symbols are meaningful only if they are drawn according to relevant standards or convention. A
heart, for example, can be symbol for love, and a candle can be a symbol for light.

In today’s world, computers and other electronic devices are essential to every person to the extent that they became a necessity to have
one of these electronic devices. However, a device wears out due to several factors such as environment effects, corrosion, vibration, and
temperature. Wrong ways of using these devices can contribute to faulty defects. Therefore, knowing how to use and take care of one’s device is
essential to prolong its usefulness and limiting the damages it could bring. These are the common malfunctions when using hand tools and
equipment:
Wrong use of tools for the job will create bad effect on the tools.
Too many impositions of force on tools on tools, which is less than its capacity to endure, causes the tools to be unserviceable.
Tools not kept and maintained will make them difficult to operate and non-functional
Methods of Identifying Nonfunctional Tools and Equipment
To identify nonfunctional tools and equipment, the following inspections should be done:
1. Visual inspection. The animator has to see and check the appearance of the tools and equipment.
2. Functionality. The animator has to check the range of operations that can be run on a computer or other electronic systems.
3. Performance. The animator has to check the process of accomplishing a task.
4. Power supply. The animator has to check the hardware component that supplies power to an electrical device.

INTRODUCTION
Health refers to the condition of the body being free from illness and injury. On the other hand, safety refers to
the condition of being protected against physical, social, and emotional consequences of any undesirable
events. Health and safety practices are important to avoid and reduce work-related accidents and ill-health
among employees. Hazard is the source of harm to health and safety to employees. In any working
environment, there is always the possibility of an accident to employees’ health no matter how they avoid it.
CONTINGENCY MEASURE
Contingency measure is something employees do or prepared to do, in case something happens. There are some
problems in the animation film production where it cannot be prevented. The following are common hazards and
problems of employees working in the animation industry with contingency measures to minimize the risk.
Fire
Majority of fire incidents are caused by electrical short circuits and connections. Heat, fuel, and oxygen are the elements
of fire to occur. These components must be avoided in order not to accumulate in one place and to prevent fire from
occurring. Wire-packed animation studios and animation rooms are susceptible to fire.
Stress
Stress at work accounts for a high percentage of lost working days of people in the animation industry. The causes of
stress includes time pressure, excessive demands, constant pressure, unacceptable behavior, lack of respect, and
contradictory instructions that lead to errors, fatigue, burnout, exhaustion, and poor performance. Working in the
animation industry can be a hazardous place.
Ventilation
In any indoor places, a good ventilation system is one of the basic health and safety requirements. in animation industry,
it includes the set and all other service areas. Too much exposure to carbon dioxide in the air can cause difficulty in
breathing among employees. For ventilation is a potential hazard for the safety of employees and other people involved
in the production. Are poor oxygen supply can lead to fainting or asphyxia. It can impair concentration, sense of balance,
and can induce fatigue, overall body weakness, dizziness, and temporary memory loss.
CLASSIFICATION OF HAZARDS AND RISKS AND ITS
EFFECTS
Effects of Hazards
1. Physical Hazards – are those substances that threaten employees’ physical safety. They are the most common and
will be present in most workplace. They include unsafe conditions that can cause injury, illness, and death.
2. Chemical hazards – are present when employees are exposed to any chemical preparation in the workplace in solid,
liquid or gas form.
3. Biological hazard – from working with animals, people, or infectious plant materials.
4. Safety hazard – is anything that can have an adverse impact on employees’ safety such as energized electrical wires,
guns, knives, and falling off an unguarded roof edge.

5. Ergonomic hazards – occurs when the type of work, body position, and working conditions put strain on employees’
body. They are the hardest to spot since employees do not always immediately notice the strain on their body or the
harm on these hazards pose.
6. Work Organizations – hazards or stressors that can cause short-term and long-term effects. These are associated with
workplace issues such as workload, lack of control, and/or respect, etc. Classification of Hazards and Risks in the
Workplace When the workplace is free from hazards and risks, injuries and accidents are also prevented. It is essential
that employees are familiar with the types of hazards so that they will now how to act according to the situation and
make necessary actions.
TYPES OF HAZARDS
1. Safety Hazards -- Accidents and injuries like broken bones, cuts, and loss of eyesight at work are generally the result
of safety hazards. Examples of safety hazards are fire/explosion, slippery surfaces, and working from heights.
2. Health Hazards -- These are conditions that may be physical, chemical, biological, ergonomical, or organizational.
Disease and illness caused by these hazards are difficult to recognize because they develop slowly and may occur a long
time after exposure.
Types of PPE:
Eye and face protection (such as Goggles, Face shields, Safety spectacles and Welding shields)
Foot protection (such as Safety Boots and Rubber Shoes, Anti-Static and Conductive Footwear)
A. Make a list of hazards that may be present at your home, most especially when you are at your desk doing animation project.
Give the possible risks and effects of the said hazards.
HAZARDS EFFECTS
B. Direction: Choose a situation among the given situations below and think what first aid procedures you would
adopt. When you are done, research on the protocol in providing emergency assistance in case of disasters and
emergency. What would you do if
1. You saw your classmate fell down the steps and was knocked unconscious?

3. Someone was bitten by a dog?
________________________________________________________________________________
4. Your classmate was choked while eating lunch with you?
________________________________________________________________________________
5. Your friend was knocked down by a car while crossing the road?
________________________________________________________________________________
D. What are Hazards and Risks? How can employees assess their workplace? Explain.
E. Why is accurate use of PPE necessary in controlling Hazards and Risks?
F. What are your learning experiences about the lesson?
INTRODUCTION
Mensuration is the branch of mathematics that studies the measurement of the geometric figures
and their parameters like length, volume, shape, surface area, lateral surface area, etc. Here, the
concepts of mensuration are explained and all the important mensuration formulas provided. Also, the properties of
different geometric shapes and the corresponding figures are given for a better understanding of these concepts.
PERFORMING BASIC
MENSURATION
A computer is a powerful tool because it’s stores huge amount of data and information computers come in different styles sizes and
types in creating an animation film it requires a large computer memory to cope with the images during the line testing digital coloring
and shooting the final film characters and backgrounds are already painted by computers it is insane essential to know the different
types of computer components and objects because each part plays an important role whenever an animator uses the computer
1.) Memory
a. Read-only memory (ROM) is a type of data storage were data is permanently stored on computers
and other electronic devices it performs major input output task and hold programs or software
instructions that are essential for boot up and needed to start a computer.
b. Random access memory (RAM) is the most common type of memory were data programs and
operating system are stored so that they can be assessed quickly in any random order.
3.) Processor
Central progressing unit (CPU) is the hardware device in a computer system that processes the
instructions of a computer program
4.) Video card
Video card is also known as graphics card it is a device in a computer that outputs visual information to
the monitor
UNDERSTANDING A SPECIFICATION
Specification or spec is a list of key components that make up the computer. Specification of the computer are
usually provided by retailers to help customers decide which combination of features you need for animation. It is
important to start by deciding what it is you want your computer to do. This then informs what specification you
actually need. When buying a computer knowing the specs will enable animators to come up with wise decision.
Processor Information
Memory Information
RAM is the main working memory in a computer
that stores and retrieves information. The processor Hard drive information
uses this memory to run programs. RAM is
measured in megabytes (MB). Most modern The hard drive information is the computers primary storage area
computers use DDR 2 RAM. Knowing the specs that stores the applications and programs that run on the PC.
when buying a desktop computer or a laptop will Hard drive is measured by gigabytes (GB). The minimum
save users money and satisfy them with the recommended hard drive capacity for typical users to do minimal
performance they require. If you are the type of work on their PC is at least 80 GB for animators to use a large
user who usually use that desktop computer or graphics and other digital software the recommended hard drive
laptop for general purpose, the recommended RAM capacity should be 200 GB and above. Saved files stored in hard
is 1024 MB or 1GB. If you are the type of user who drive can be done when hard drive breaks down it is a must for
uses desktop computer or laptop for multimedia any users specially animators to have a backup file storage
applications or high-end graphics the recommended external hard drive is commonly used by many users to back up
RAM is 2048MB or 2GB. When an animator is doing and secure their files.
3D animation, for example, the RAM temporarily
stores those unsaved files before the animator
saves them. If the size of RAM is full, the computer
will slow down causing those temporary files to be
saved on a different, slower hard drive. Animators
need bigger RAM size since they are using graphic
applications. An 8GB RAM is recommended for
general graphics work.
For example:
In digital information MB and GB are often used to measure computer storage and memory. For example, one unit of
this book is about 1MB in size. 1MB is equivalent to 1,024 or 1,048,576B. If all the books in a large library contains 1TB of
information, then its equivalent is 1,024KB and this is roughly 1,610 CDs worth of data.
Example: 1.
The portable Document Format PDF file of the document from a PDF file of the animation curriculum guide is 476 KB
how many is 476KB files can be stored in a Zip disc? (Zip disc =750 MB)
1KB = 1,024B
476KB x 1,024 = 487, 424B
1MB = 1,048,576B
750MB x 1,048,576 = 786, 432,000B of space
786,432,000/487,424 = 1,613.45
So, there are 1,613.45 files of 476KB files that can be stored in a Zip disc.
