1.4 Targeted Audiences

The specification is intended for the following audiences:

• CBB HDD suppliers.

• Engineers designing platforms using the CBB HDDs.

1.5 CBB HDD Overview

The CBBs were established to enable and accelerate the growth and innovation in the
mobile notebook ecosystem by building upon a foundation of components or
ingredients that comply to specifications for interchangeability. This spec assists in
defining the mechanical form and fit and basic electrical connections of CBB HDDs in a
mobile system. Innovation, value-add, and differentiation are left to the suppliers and
system designers. Intel is working with key industry players from OEMs, ODMs, and
notebook system ingredient suppliers to ensure CBB ingredients are available for
integration into notebook systems.

This specification is based on the SFF committee specifications listed in the Related
Documents.
