12richardy - LUCILLO.MIRA Lesson4

This document summarizes an interview with the student's mother about environmental changes between her childhood and present day. The mother recalls that rivers and brooks were clean enough to swim in and enjoy before, but are now often dirty with garbage. She also notes that fireflies are rarely seen at night now and children are less likely to play outside due to worsening environmental conditions caused by human irresponsibility.

CHAPTER 4: THE HUMAN PERSON IN THEIR ENVIRONMENT

ENGAGE
Read and analyze the given quotation below. Write your opinion on the space
provided.

“The world is big enough to satisfy our needs of any person, but too small
to satisfy human greediness”
- Mahatma Gandhi

CHAPTER
The world is so great to us, it gives us all the natural resources for our living. But we
have to keep on our mind that everything is limited. We are not keeping the world the way it
is because of our greediness. We want more we demand more way too far from what we just
need. And by doing that we no longer adapt to our environment, now we make our

environment adapt to us. Throwing nature off balance, not just where we are but everywhere.

Directions: Answer the following questions.

1. What could you possibly do to contribute in improving our present environmental condition?
In my point of view, improving our environment condition starts in small actions, it doesn’t need to do
big projects and huge budget. Let’s contribute by disciplining ourselves. Let’s start small act like
throwing trash in the right place, planting trees, cleaning our surroundings and of course by reducing
our wants and pomp. Balancing the things we are consuming every day is a great help to preserve our
environment.

2. How is environment important to human being?

eH w
o.
It is our inhabitant without it we are nothing. It gives everything to us without asking. Our life depends
rs e
on the being of our environment, if it’s poor hen we are poor, if it is healthy then we are healthy,
ou urc
simple as that.

3. Do you think people should recycle? Why or why not?

ed d
ar stu

Yes, recycling is another great help to reduce our waste. We have a lot of waste everywhere and if this
waste will not be control, then humans might run out of locations to bury synthetic waste, or the waste
might bring disturbing effects to the environment, it also helps to reduce using natural resources which
is

helps to preserve the good of our world because we all know that these natural resources are limited.
The only way to radically slow the pressure of using these resources is recycling.

4. In what ways can you increase public awareness of our environmental problems?
I am not a well know person, so I don’t think I could raise a schema for everyone. But as a citizen who
cared for our environment I must say that I can set a good example to those people I am socializing
with. It’s just simple act but I now it can change something, and that little something to someone could
be the start of to reach everyone.

The purpose of this activity is to establish the difference between the environment before
and now. This is done through the actual and ground experiences and observations of the people
who have lived through those years and have seen the difference. For this activity, each student is
required to interview their parents/guardians/relatives and ask questions about the environment
before and now.
A guide table below is presented to assist the student in conducting the interview.

SUMMARY
Strand and Section: Abm-Richardy _ Date:

My mother was diligently telling me about her childhood. I am amazed but

disappointed at the same time. She said that most of the river before are safe to
swim unlike now that you will see a lot of garbage floating and flowing along the
river. Another thing that can barely see now is the fireflies roaming around the
trees at night and the children playing outside while enjoying the sun at day.
Since nowadays our children are used to hide in their room using their gadgets.

some changes are good like having a machinery used in rice fields, technology for

a better future of everyone and a property that human can live with. It is still

negative for me that we lost many wonderful things around us.

vi y re

Now that realized a lot of things about our environment, I want to change
my daily life. I will stop using one-use things, like plastic bags, straws, disposable

water bottle and many more that will harm the world. I’ll be responsible with my

but this is my environment and I want to set a good example to everyone around
me that we should take care of our planet for our future and our next
