GENERAL INFORMATION
SHIP PARTICULARS
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Class Surveyor to be informed when vessel is at dry-dock to arrange for docking survey and
subsequent surveys as per repair.
2. Shipyard’s Representative, Attending Superintendent and Class Surveyor to examine vessel in dock
immediately when dock pumped dry.
4. Vessel to be docked with sufficient space (at least 4 meters) from shipside to side of dock.
5. Surface preparation for hull paint work to be examined by Attending Superintendent or Owner’s
Appointed Representatives prior to application of paint and also each coat applied to be examined
before application of subsequent coat.
6. Sufficient time to be allowed for paint to be dried before application of subsequent coat. For Vinyl
and Chlorinated Rubber and Anti-abrasive paint - minimum 6 hours; for anti fouling paint - minimum
8 hours and prior to vessel’s undocking to be allowed a minimum of 18 hours. Hull roughness
measurement to be taken.
7. All grit blasting areas to be specified and agreed by Attending Superintendent prior work being
carried out.
8. First Primer to be applied immediately after blasting / air blown.
On completion of first primer coating to fresh water wash down.
9. All new steel work and old steel work affected by welding to be suitably surface prepared and coated
with one coat of primer and two coats of finished paint.
Yard to include cost for above in quotation for individual repair items. Owner will supply paints.
10. Paints representatives to be informed and in attendance during the entire painting period.
11. All underwater fittings like echo sounder, anodes are to be protected against damage by blasting /
painting and thereafter protective seals to be removed before flooding the dock.
12. All cleaning which will be necessary as a result of opening up machinery and parts, pumps, heat
exchangers, valves and fittings, electrical gears etc.,. for work as detailed in this specification is to be
included. The same applies to cleaning the areas adjacent or around above named items, including
cleaning and guards for fire protection purposes.
13. On completion of repairs all debris from repairs are to be removed and vessel to depart from the
shipyard in a condition with respect to cleanliness at least equal to that of arrival.
14. Staging although not specifically mentioned, but where such is obviously required, to be included.
15. Should the yard requires the removal of any part of the vessel or her fittings for carrying out the
specified repairs, the same shall be done by yard. All such removals are subsequently to be replaced
and any damage resulting there from to be made good by the yard and at yard’s expense. This also
applies to insulation, which may be damaged as a result of removal of machinery and parts.
16. All temporary wiring and lights used by contractor’s workmen are for contractor’s account and
should be included in each item where relevant. All work areas should be well luminated by lights.
17. Gas free inspections by yard and government chemist for work inside tanks to be included in the
repair quotation for that particular item.
18. Ventilation provided for any repair work to be included in the quotation for that particular item.
19. Yard’s inability to quote all items will be considered unfavorably. Items which were quoted in terms
of per meter length or per kilo weight or not specific shall be regarded as unquoted items.
The completion date and the total cost of repairs quoted shall be regarded as the essence of the
quotation.
20. All the work noted in attached specification must be carried out in its entirety and no deviation
whatsoever will be allowed, unless mutually agreed. However, Attending Superintendent may cancel
any item depending upon circumstances, class requirements and due to other reasons.
21. Yard’s quotations are to include all incidental and itemized expenses such as rental of piers or berths
for the performance of the work, tug boats for shifting for the convenience of the yard, handling lines,
furnishing lights necessary for the prosecution of the work, and all expenses for removing daily refuse
and debris from the vessel and keeping engine room and all decks constantly clean.
22. The owners reserve the right, during the docking and repair period, to employ our specialist service
engineers and manufacturers’ representatives including specialist welders with no surcharge being
imposed. We also reserve the right to employ our ship chandlers and repairmen for small repairs not
quoted for in the repair specifications.
23. No extra in cost will be allowed in this contract unless agreed to by attending superintendent in
writing. Itemized prices are to be produced within 24 hours for all additional work.
24. The yard must submit the work-list for the ship’s staff to endorse before the vessel’s departure from
the repair yard.
25. The yard will be required to render the draft bill within 24 hours of the vessel’s departure from the
repair yard.
26. All quotations should be based on round the clock working, including Saturdays, Sundays and public
holidays.
27. Yard to ensure vessel is provided with safe berth with sufficient keel clearance during entire repair
period in yard.
28. Yard to ensure no night paintings are allowed for entire dry-docking period.
29. Yard to ensure sufficient cranage available for shifting of hatch covers while berthed alongside wharf
and while in dry-dock.
30. Yard to be responsible for any interruption, interference, inconvenience and delay caused by double
banking.
31. Yard responsibility to ensure vessel safely seat on dock blocks while docking.
32. Yard to indicate for all quotation and unquoted repair items, which year tariff to apply.
GS02-01 DRYDOCKING
For the safety of the vessel and access to underwater sensors, yard is to
ensure that arrangements / adjustments of the keel blocks, bilge blocks and
shoring are to be carried out accordingly.
Note :
Yard to ensure there is sufficient space between vessel and dock side in
order to carry out hull surface preparation and any other repairs.
Vessel to dock and undock during normal working day and normal working
hours unless otherwise advised by owner’s representative. Should vessel
docked or undocked outside normal working hours for the convenience of
the yard, owners will not be liable to pay extra charges other than the quoted
price.
Vessel to be moored and unmoored together with assistance from yard’s tugs,
riggers, dock master / pilots.

Note :
Yard to ensure before or after dry-docking, vessel to be berthed alongside
once only. If more than one berthing, yard to bear all related expenses and

GS02-03 WHARFAGE
Note :
Tugs assistance vessel’s docking and undocking are to be included in
docking charges.
Note :
Yard’s fireman is to report daily to duty officer. If no fireman
reports to duty officer or found not on board vessel than owner will
not be liable to pay for the services for that particular day.
Note :
Meter readings to be recorded by yard personnel in the presence of chief
engineer or electrical engineer and signed by either.
Note :
Owner will only pay for each day of the garbage being disposed & not for
the entire docking period simply because the warrant receptacle is on board.
Note :
The telephone provided should not have access to international
connection but only cater for local calls.
GS02-08 CRANE SERVICE
Note :
The owner is not liable to pay if the certificates are not issued to the
chief officer.
Allow for two ( 2 ) lines ( inlet and outlet for each line ) x seven ( 07 )
days ____________
Allow for four (4) connections and disconnections and supply 200
tons of fresh water.

Prior to the vessel’s undocking, draining out and re-filling of ballast water to
be allowed for.

Cost for removal / refitting of the air vent pipes for filling ballast
water to be included in above item ( b ).

When any bottom drain plug is to be removed, it must be witnessed and
recorded by Chief Officer or Ship’s Officer.
After refitting the bottom drain plugs, it must vacuum tested and be sealed
by cement.

The electric motor heating lamp power cost should be included in item
GS02-05.
For compressed air supply used by the yard or the contractors, no charge
will be paid by the owner.
The vessel will come into the yard with clean and dry engine room bilges.
Engine room bilges are to be maintained clean and dry during vessel’s stay in
the yard by transferring the bilges to shore facilities. The above is to be
carried out only when authorized by attending superintendent.
The emptying of the bilges should be to the chief engineer’s satisfaction and
has to be endorsed by him in writing.

GS02-18 STAGING
Size Price
1) All necessary staging / cranage, protection of vessel against cleaning elements of dry-
dock and all associated works to be included in the price.
2) Works under item H03-01, Hull Preparation and Painting may not extend beyond
normal working hours unless authorized by attending superintendent. The cost of extra
time taken to carry out above is to be included in the quotation.
3) Please be reminded such works are not to be disrupted because of adherence to normal
working hours. Owner will not be liable to pay extra charges other than quoted to
complete this job as per Attending Superintendent’s instruction.
4) When more than one coat of paint is specified, subsequent coats are not to be applied
until preceding coat has sufficient time to cure in accordance with the time interval
recommended by the paint supplier.
5) Wooden plugs with pipe or half round pipes are to be fitted onto the ship side
scuppers. These are to be fitted before blasting and painting. They are to be fitted in
such a way that no draining water comes into contact with the hull surface during
blasting and painting.
Upon completion of hull painting, the wooden plugs / pipes are to be removed.
6) Hull anodes, impressed current anodes, stern tube seals, bow thruster seal, echo
sounder transducer and speed log are to be masked with fibre tapes during the entire
painting period. These are to be removed after completion of painting.
7) Quoted prices for surface preparations and paintings are to include the necessary
staging and mobile cranes around the vessel and removal upon completion.
10) All touch-up coats to be carry out with “small tip nozzles” to avoid excessive
overlapping.
12) The mixing and thinning of paint material is to be in accordance with the paint
supplier’s specification.
Entire vessel’s hull to be hosed down with high pressure fresh water jet of least 200 bar
pressure.
All hand scraping areas to be specified and agreed by Attending Superintendent prior
to work being carried out.
a) Grit blasting to SA2.0 standard, scattered in way of Topside area. The edges of
the paint in way of the blasted area are to be feathered by disc sanding.
All exposed areas are to be air blown to remove spent grit.
1) VERTICAL BOTTOM
AREA FROM BILGE KEEL TO 6.5 METRES DRAFT.

a) Grit blasting to SA2.0 standard, scattered in way of Vertical bottom area. The edges of
the paint in way of the blasted area are to be feathered by disc sanding
All exposed areas are to be air blown to remove spent grit prior to painting.
c) Overall coat of SPC antifouling (A/F) paints to be applied at entire vertical bottom area.
2) FLAT BOTTOM
AREA EXTENDING TO BILGE KEELS, INCLUSIVE OF SEA CHEST.

a) Grit blasting to SA2.0 standard, scattered in way of Flat Bottom area. The edges of the
paint in way of the blasted area are to be feathered by the disc sanding.
All exposed areas are to be air blown to remove spent grit prior to painting.
Note :
Owner may elect to carry out other means of surface preparations and painting scheme. All
necessary accessory works, removal of debris, protect equipment against elements of
surface preparation are to be included in Yard’s quotation. Yard to quote as follows :

On main deck and scattered areas indicated by superintendent including areas in way
of container post, in between hatch coaming spaces and hatch coamings to be blasted
(SA2.0) and coated with two coat of epoxy paints supplied by owner, quotation should
include removal of used grit and necessary access works.
H03-09 PAINTING
Particulars of Cable :
Original Diameter : 52 mm dia.
No. of Shackles : 9 shackles on Port Chains
: 10 shackles on Starboard Chains
a) The bitter ends of both Port and Starboard anchor chains are to be disconnected and
the entire anchors with its cables are to be lowered down and ranged in the dock
bottom.
Both anchors and cables are to be hosed down with fresh water at a high pressure ( at
least 150 bars ).
Two kenter shackles are to be broken free on each cable, subject to attending Supt
approval.
The first two full outboard lengths are to be disconnected and re-connected to the
bitter ends in the chain lockers. The third out board lengths are to be connected to the
short length of each cable. All the kenter shackles are to be jointed up. Subject to
approval from attending superintendent after verification of chain calibration.
Both cables are to be calibrated and its readings submitted to the Attending
Superintendent.
Both cables shackles’ markings are to be re-marked with canvas and secured with
stainless steel bands with yard’s supplied materials. Upon completion, shot markings
to be verified by ship’s Master or Chief Officer.

b) The Owners may choose to paint both cables and anchors with Owner’s supplied
bitumastic paint.
f) To build-up the welds of the Cable Link studs (one side only) with
Low Hydrogen Electrode if the original weldings are found to be
corroded or cracked. (To be confirm by attending superintendent).
Damaged paint work in both chain lockers are to be de-rusted and disc sanded in
preparation for 2 coats of coal tar epoxy at 150 micron each. Allow for 4m Width
x 3m Height per chain locker.

Propeller

Quotation to include cranage, transportation, lighting, ventilation riggings, staging and final
cleaning / oiling prior assembly.
The tailshaft is to be drawn out for survey. C.P.Propeller is to be dismantled for Survey.
C.P. propeller hub to be sent to workshop for overhauling.
In order to withdraw the tail shaft, the rudder will be require to be dismantle and shifted out
to facilitate removal of tail shaft to workshop. Removal of rudder to be co-incide with (H04
-04) Rudder & Rudder carrier.
i) Complete removal of Propeller and Shaft to the workshop without removing any of the
propeller blades.
ii) Remove all 5 propeller blades in place, then remove the complete propeller and shaft
to workshop.
iii) Dismount the propeller from the shaft in dry-dock. Take the propeller alone to
workshop for overhaul. The tail-shaft is drawn out separately.
Owners require to carry out the work either by methods (i) or (ii) or (iii) given above.
b) Propeller shaft wear down to be measured in the presence of surveyor and chief
engineer. Propeller ‘A’ blade to be at TDC position.

c) Drain CPP System Oil and stern tube seal system oil into ship’s tanks.
Disconnect and remove #2 blade of the propeller. After completion of the propeller
and tail-shaft survey, to install new propeller blades (5 nos.) supplied by owner.

d) To disconnect and remove the hollow split coupling at the tail-shaft forward end,
remove double screw coupling of CPP control rod, remove tail-shaft nut and coupling
at the forward end.
Tail-shaft complete with propeller (with four remaining blades) to be drawn out from
the outboard end.
Upon completion (of survey, overhaul etc in the shop and transported back to dry-
dock) tails-haft and propeller to be refitted in proper order.

f) Disconnection and removal of propeller from shaft and the control rod, removal of
the remaining four blades, removal of crosshead and links from the hub.
Cleaning up and magnaflux test of keyway for the tailshaft in the presence of
Surveyor.
Reassembling the hub and the four blades and reconnecting to the Propeller shaft
and control rod on proper order. _______________
g) Stern tube to be cleaned off all oil and presented for survey. Calibrations to
submit.

h) Both fwd and aft seal assemblies, including chrome liners to remove and calibrate
for excess wear

k) Renewal of seal rings with owner supplied spares. Refitting of forward and aft seal
assemblies in position following Seal Maker’s and CPP assembly instruction

l) Installation of 8 pcs net cutter to the Aft seal housing to carry out with owner’s
supplied parts as per instructions provided by Seal Maker.

m) To quote for removal of aft stern tube seal assembly and new seals to be installed
in-situ by valcanising in place.

q) Quote for Seal Maker’s Service Engineer attendance during assembly of seals and
while tailshaft is being refitted.

r) Flusing and refitting of CPP oil system, and seals oil system. Carry out operational
and function test of CPP.

s) To quote for removal of aft stern tube seal assembly and new seals to be installed
in-situ by vulcanizing in place.

a) Rudder wear down to checked and record in the presence of Chief Engineer.
Top pintle (upper and lower bushing) and bottom pintle and rudder lifting stopper
clearance to be checked and recorded in the presence of Chief Engineer.
b) Two cover plates for rudder stock and pintle nut to cut open for inspection of the
locking arrangements by Surveyor. Same to be welded back after inspection.

c) Rudder plug to be removed in the presence of Chief Engineer and water to be
drained out before plug refitted.

e) Rudder to be pressure tested with air to 0.17kg /cm2. This work to be carried out
only if confirmed by Attending Superintendent.

f) Barnacles growth in the rudder’s lower pintle compartment are to be scrapped and
2 coats of anti-corrosion & 2 coats of anti-fouling paint are to be applied. To refer
to hull painting specification. Allow for 6 square meter __________

Quotation to include erecting / removal of stagings, equipment and necessary
accessory work.
f) To quote for renewal of top rudder neck and bottom pintle bush.
Work involve removal of rudder flange bolts, removal of pintle nut and
lifting off rudder for accessibility to pintle bush.

The sea chests and its gratings are to be hand scraped, cleaned and hosed down with fresh
water at high pressure.
After satisfactory inspection by Chief Engineer, the sea chests and gratings to be painted
with two coats of anti-corrosive paint and two coats of anti-fouling paint supplied by
Owner.
On completion, sea chest gratings to be re-fitted with original stainless steel nut and split
pins.
Quoted price to include staging, cranage or mobile crane and necessary accessory works for
removing and renewing the anodes.
All Scupper valves are to be overhauled on board vessel unless otherwise authorized by the
attending Superintendent. Owner will not be liable to pay for removal of valves to Yard’s
workshop without prior approval.
All valves are to be inspected by the Chief Engineer before re-fitting in place.
a) Following scupper valves are to be opened up, cleaned and freed up. Valves are to be
lapped or leather to be renewed. On completion of repairs, valves to be re-fitted with
Yard’s supplied new jointings, nuts and studs.
c) Valve flap pin holes if found oval are to be rebuilt by welding and redrilled.
Staging, cranage transportation, removal of gratings, and other accessory works for
above to be included in the quoted price.
Sea suction and discharge valves, as listed, to be opened up, valve faces to be lapped,
spindles to be checked for excessive wear.
Foreign matters in the valves to be scraped and disposed.
All openings to be represented for survey.
All internal spaces to be coated with Owner’s supplied Apexior No. 3.
On completion of repairs, the valves are to be re-fitted with Yard’s supplied new packings
and joints.
Bolts, nuts or studs that require to be renewed, should be brought to the attention of the
Chief Engineer before effecting renewal.
Sea suction and discharge valves required to be surveyed by ABS will be indicated by
Attending Superintendent.

To allow for damage repairs of the Shell Platings and its internal in way.
Depending on the extent of the damages, the Owners may choose to effect permanent
repairs by fairing in place and partial renewal of the damaged platings.
All damaged paint work caused by hot work are to be disc sanded / wire brushed and touch
up accordingly. To apply 2 coats of anti-corrosion paint at 125 micron each.
For plate renewal, blasted plates with shop primered paint are to be used.
Quotation to include cranage, staging, transportation, lighting and all necessary accessory
works.
a) Fairing in place
a) Yard to provide necessary plates, materials, stagings as necessary, tools & workers
b) Gas freeing (if necessary) on the HFO tank prior hotwork yard to include workers,
cleaning materials, gas freeing and ventilation.
c) After completion must be inspected by owner’s representative and approved by attending
ABS surveyor.
d) Tank testing by air test and/or hydro test as require.
e) Finished steel work must be coated (2 coats) with Hempadur Mastic Grey paint supplied
by Owners.
a) Following valves to be opened up, cleaned and freed. Valves to be lapped or later to be
renewed. On completion of repairs, valves to be refitted with Yard’s supplied new
packings and jointings.
Bolts, nuts and studs that require to be renewed, should be brought to the attention of
the Chief Engineer before effecting renewal.

b) Stainless steel ring 6 mm thick on the tunnel in way of propeller blades to inspect
for corrosion in way of weldings. All welding seam failures due to corrosion
requires to be gouged and rewelded with suitable electrodes. On completion of
welding, slag depositions to be removed and two coats of anti-corrosive paints and
two coats of anti-fouling paints applied.
b) Upon completion of hub overhauling, same to be transported back to the ship and fit
back inside the tunnel. Alignment of the coupling to be carried out.
c) After fitting back of hub and blades, system oil to be topped up and check for any
leakage from the blade seal, hub cover and piping etc
.
d) Bow thruster to carry out pitch test and other test as required by service engineer.
Chief engineer will witness all test process.
Quotation to include for cranage, lighting, staging, attendance of service engineer and
transportation as required.
To build up windcat shells where worn down due to general ware and tear on
both side.

Brake drum to be derusted & surface smoothened.

D05-12 CARGO HOLD GRIT BLASTING AND PAINTING.(80 % DERUST AND
TOUCH UP DONE BY SHIP STAFF)
LOCATION : NO.1 AND NO.2 CARGO HOLD TANK TOP AND INTERIOR
SURFACE.
Both cargo holds’ tank top and interior surface should be derusted by grit
blasting and painted.

1. Crane Sheaves Overhauling [ Last done in March2007 during drydock for both
cranes, all sheaves, D05-18(3)].
a) Luffing and Hoisting wire to be removed from the crane and kept in a safe and clean
place to avoid any grits / dirt settle on the wires.
b) All sheaves (13sheaves/crane) to be overhaul / removed for renewal of bearings and
subject to owners/maker rep, bearing may not be renew if condition is found good.
c) On completion of sheaves overhaul, to assemble and re-reeve the luffing and hoisting
wire.

2. To change hoisting hydraulic motor for crane #1 with ship supply spare.
Job scope:
All dismantled parts to be kept in a safe and clean place to avoid any grits / dirt settle on
these parts. Any suspected hydraulic hoses or o-rings to replace with ship supplied spare.
Upon completion,to run the system under normal working load/condition.
Crane service engineer to be in attendance when the crane is being test run.

a. Remove cylinder head (complete with exhaust valve) and transport to workshop. All
assemblies (air starting valve, fuel valve, exhaust valve, relief valve, indicator cock)
to be removed, cleaned and overhauled.
Cylinder head to be cleaned chemically. Cooling Water spaces to be chemically
cleaned and pressure tested. Combustion chamber surfaces to be cleaned and checked
for cracks/worn down. Cylinder head contact surface on liner to be lapped/ ground for
proper contact on assembly.
b. Piston assembly to be removed from the engine. All parts to be cleaned. Piston
crown to dismantle, change the o-ring and pressure test to 7 bar after reassembly.
If required, the mating faces of the piston rod and skirt to be skimmed before
reassembly. Allow for 2 units.
c. To extract liner and clean jacket space. Liner to be honed and to remount after
cleaning.
d. Piston and liner to calibrate and readings to submit to Chief Engineer as soon as
possible.
e. The bottom end of the connecting rod is to be tightened without bearing and the
housing is to be calibrated. Readings to be submitted to the Chief Engineer.
Serrations and bottom end bolts are to be checked for cracks by flaw detection.
f. M/E Unit Survey.
g. Unit to be boxed up with ship’s supplied spare upon inspection/ confirmation
by Chief Engineer

Governor to be disconnected and send to Maker’s authorized agent for checking, servicing
and calibration on test bench.
All worn out parts to be renewed. To allow for few major parts such as pilot valve spring,
loading spring, oil seal, needle and ball bearings, drive shafts, buffer springs, and various
linkage springs.
Governor service engineer to be in attendance when the governor is being test run.

The following tanks in engine room are to be cleaned. Price for opening of man-hole doors,
ventilation and lighting are covered under other items. Quotation to include of gas free and
certification entry of tank as required by regulation.
a) Remaining oil tank to be pumped to adjacent tanks or ashore as indicated by Chief
Engineer. The quantity to be pumped out must be confirmed by Chief Engineer or
attending Superintendent. (Allow One ton per tank).
b) Tank and internals to be cleaned and sludge to be loosely scraped. All arisings to be
collected and disposed off.
Quotations to be based on per tank basis. The number of tanks to be cleaned will be
decided after inspection by attending Superintendent at the yard.
Following valves to open up, inspect, lap / skiming of valve and seat where applicable.
Valves spindles to be freed and box up using Yard’s supplied packings and jointings.
Internal spaces of all seawater valves, except those rubber-lined, are to be coated with
owner’s supplied Apexior No.3 paint.
All valves to be inspected by Chief Engineer or Attending Superintendent before boxing up.
On completion of repairs / overhaul, the valves to be boxed back with Yard’s supplied new
gland packings and jointings.
