ESTIMATING AND COSTING (A70138)

COURSE PLANNER
I. COURSE OVERVIEW:
Estimation is the technique of calculating or computing the carious quantities and the expected
expenditure to be incurred on a particular work or project. Before sanction or approval of any
project or work, its estimated cost worked out and necessary funds are sanctioned by the
competent authority. For all the engineering works it is required to know beforehand the
probable cost of constructions known as the estimated cost. If the estimated cost is greater than
the money available, then attempts are made to reduce the work by reducing the work or by
changing the specifications. In preparing a estimate the quantities of different items of work are
calculated by simple methods and from these the quantities the cost is calculated.
