Internal examination Number of students passed Thrice in a semester COs, POs and PSOs
• Students gain real time exposure through projects. Course outcome attainment through projects is assessed by three reviews conducted by the department.
• Students are divided into batches with number of students in each batch not exceeding 4 students.
• Coordinator ensures different domains are chosen by the different batches.
• Final review and viva-voce will be conducted by the affiliating University in the presence of external examiner.
UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS:
Semester examinations (theory or practical) are the metric to assess whether all the course outcomes framed by the course handler based on Anna university
Syllabus is attained or not. Semester Examination is more focused on attainment of course outcomes.
REGULATION 2017:
Attainment Levels: University Examinations
Attainment Level 1: < 59% of students scoring the set attainment level of B grade in final examination.
Attainment Level 2: > 60% of students scoring the set attainment level of B grade in final examination.
Attainment Level 3: > 70% of students scoring the set attainment level of B grade in final examination.
Attainment Levels: Internal Examinations
Attainment Level 1:<50% of students scoring the set attainment level of 50 mark in internal examination.
Attainment Level 2: >60% of students scoring the set attainment level of 50 mark in internal examination.
Attainment Level 3: ≥70% of students scoring the set attainment level of 50 mark in internal examination.

COs Attainment level is calculated by segregating the internal examination marks based on the defined course outcomes. The marks gained by the students for every CO is taken and the threshold
value is 50% of every CO. The set attainment level is <=59% of student above 50% (Threshold)-1 (Low), ≥60% of student above 50% (Threshold)-2 (Medium) and ≥70% of student above 50% (Threshold)-
3 (High).
20% of the internal examination attainment and 80% of university grade of the student are considered for attainment of Course Outcomes. For university examination the set attainment level is <=59% of
students scoring more than B grade–1 (Low), ≥60% of students scoring more than B grade–2 (Medium) and ≥70% of students scoring more than B grade–3 (High). The summation of internal and university
examination marks is converted to the attainment level of 3.

COs Vs POs and PSOs mapping has been carried out for every course and its average is calculated.
The COs attainment of every course has been taken from three internal examinations and its average is calculated.
Graduate survey, alumni survey and employer survey is taken every year from the graduates, alumni and employer.
For the indirect assessment each survey carries different weightages where alumni survey and employer survey are given a weightage of 25% each and graduate survey is given a weightage of 50%.
Finally, the overall POs and PSOs attainment level through indirect method is evaluated by converting the survey values into the scale of 3.
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
GRADUATE SURVEY:
A graduate survey is conducted with the students, who have completed the course in the corresponding year. This survey is conducted to assess how far the students have gained the knowledge
with respect to each PO and PSO.
