ICT technologies play an important role in modern society, both as a responsibility and a privilege. As a digital native, access to information through ICT is a privilege, but it also carries the responsibility to share information respectfully. ICT allows for quick communication but can also spread misinformation, like fake news. Social media and the internet share similarities in that they are both computer-based technologies that facilitate sharing of content and ideas electronically. However, to some digital immigrants, social media is seen solely as a platform for social connection rather than recognizing it as part of the overall internet. The internet more broadly describes the global communication network and protocols that enable both good and bad outcomes like spreading information and supporting activism.

I. Do you know the term “digital native” and “digital immigrant”?

Digital Immigrant is a person who born or brought up before the widespread use of
digital technology; however digital native is a person grows-up in the digital age, rather
than acquiring familiarity with the digital systems.

As a digital native, what can you say about ICT? Is this a responsibility, a privilege, or
both? Please, write your answer and explain.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are


very important in today’s “new normal” of society. It
helps people communicate and be functional, even
with ongoing COVID pandemic. ICT has become a new
normal basic need and is essential to a modern-day
lifestyle.As a Digital Native, ICT is both a responsibilty and
a privilege, because, we have the privilege, freedom,
and right to access information. And we also have the
responsibilty to express with respect. Weneed to be
responsible, because, Ict is also a platform to spread
false information. A perfect example of this is Fake News.
