pipe or if not possible to one side and will allow the pipe to be installed in a straight line to
the correct slope. For pipes extending from CB to CB, forms should be constructed and
secured with provision of openings for pipes with the elevations indicated on the
drawings. The installation may proceed when the pipe routes have been set out.
4. Measure length of pipe required and cut to suit ensuring a square cut. De-burr pipe and
chamfer ends. An allowance of 12mm for expansion to be made for each joint of pipe run.
5. Lay pipes in aligned with the marker strings.

2. Transfer the pipes from the stores to the areas which is to be installed.

3. Lift tools to the scaffolds using rope.

4. Move the scaffold into the position and checked that all wheels are locked and outrigger
stabilizer are extended to correct position. Only scaffolds that have been duly inspected,
certified and tagged shall be used.

5. Mark out vertical support threaded rod, channel position from grid lines, marking provided
by the surveyor. Locations will be based on the approved shop drawings.

6. Check the dimensions to the finished face of the wall and / or column, report any
discrepancy to Al Ittihad Mechanical Engineer.

7. Secure the first section of vertical support to the soffit as-per the shop drawing detail.

8. Clean thoroughly the pipes, so that all dust are removed.

9. Lift the pipes, to the scaffold using lifting machine or chain blocks.

10. Fit the bracket support to the pipe. Note that this operation may be carried at scaffolding
level and the prefabricated assembly lifted into place.

11. Check the correct elevation of support brackets from the datum provided by the surveyor.
Do not assume that the floor is at the correct FFL.

12. Check the tightness of all the bolts.

13. When sufficient numbers of support brackets are fixed, the pipes can be lifted into the
position and secured to the brackets.

14. Adjacent length of pipes shall be joined using the above method.

Wall Mounted Installation:

1. Move the scaffolding into position and check that all wheels are locked and the outrigger
stabilizers are extended to the correct position.
2. Mark out center line of wall brackets position, check the center line is plumb, if using cast-in
channel, check that channel is plumb.

3. Mark out elevation of wall brackets using datum provided by surveyor. Do not assume that
floor is at correct FFL.

4. Fit the wall brackets as shown in the approved shop drawing details.

11. Pipe work testing shall be undertaken in accordance with ITP.

Make joints of all fittings and straight coupling by:

1. Measure depth of the socket and mark with pencil on spigot end of pipe

2. Lubricate spigot end of pipe with the approved manufacturer’s lubricant.

3. Push spigot end of pipe into uPVC ring socket to full depth, ensuring that the ring seal is in
place correctly and then pull back by a distance of 12mm to allow for expansion.

5. At the head of each drain branch, ensure that the floor drain or drain point is level with the
marker port reference and that the fitting is square.

6. On completion of each drain section, check and adjust if necessary to ensure that the pipe
is in line with the marker string and all inverts are correct.

Checking the Slope of Drainage Pipe:

1. Select the spirit level that will rest against the drainage pipe you are measuring without
contacting fittings or other obstacles. The level must rest only on the pipe.
2. Set the spirit level on the top of the pipe or hold it against the bottom. Note the position of
the spirit level’s bubble, it should not be centered. Lift the end of the spirit level until the
bubble is centered.

3. Measured the distance between the end of the spirit level and the pipe. The distance is the
slope of the pipe along the length of the spirit level. The standard slope for most soil and
waste pipe is 1 percent downward in direction of flow.

4. Verify the slope is in the correct direction. The pipe must slope downward from the source
of the water or waste toward the main sewer or catch basin.

drawings.

6. Fix the supports/brackets in proper intervals as per the standard or as per drawing details.

7. Rain water outlets shall be Dura coated cast iron body with combination flashing
clamp/gravel guard and low silhouette cast iron dome.

8. Rain water outlets shall be manufactured according to ANSI A112.21.2M. Rain water
outlets shall be selected to suit the type of roof where installed and shall be provided with

the mortar to set and reach adequate strength.
6. Thoroughly check all plugs and equipment. Make sure that any rubber tubing used in
connections is in good condition and not perished.
7. Fit expanding plugs into the ends of the pipeline and all branches. Make sure that the surface
of the pipes where plugs fit is also clean and free from any extraneous material such as grit.

Leakage test for drainage pipe:

A. Air Leakage test for Balcony Riser
1. Seal pipe section with appropriate size drain test plug.
2. Fit test nipple to one of the drain test plugs.
3. Connect rubber hose via ‘Y’ piece to nipple, ‘U’ gauge and hand bellows.
4. Fill ‘U’ gauge with water to ‘zero’.
5. Squeeze the hand bellows gently until the level reaches 100mm on the open side of the gauge
and the lower limit below zero on the closed side. The level should not fall to less than 75mm
during a period of 5 minutes without further pumping, after allowing a suitable time for
stabilization of air temperature. If it drops below 75mm within the specified time the pipe
section is leaking.

a) Fit expanding plugs or bag stoppers by using rigid support in the access pipe which is fixed at
every floor, suitably secured to resist the full hydrostatic head.
c) Fill the pipeline with water making sure that there are no pockets of trapped air.
d) Fill the standpipe or other test apparatus to a height of (1.2 - 1.5) m above the pipe or channel
invert.
e) Allow the pipeline to stand for 2 h for absorption, topping up as necessary.
f) After 2 h, measure the loss of water from the pipeline by noting the quantity of water needed to
maintain the test head in the apparatus over a period of 30 min.
g) Shaft will be open until test & commissioning as coordinated with main contractor & client, then
the closing of shaft to be coordinate and start after retesting pipe leakage ( by allow water to flow
through the pipe and check each shaft connection) from upper floor to lower floor one by one.

Acceptance criteria:
For various pipe diameters this rate of loss over a 30 min period may be expressed as follows:
1. DN 100 pipe 0.05 liters per meter run;
2. DN 150 pipe 0.08 liters per meter run;
3. DN 225 pipe 0.12 liters per meter run;
4. DN 300 pipe 0.15 liters per meter run.
