4. Stand in front of the sink, keeping hands and uniform away from the

5. Turn on water with a foot pedal (if no foot pedal, use dry paper towel).

6. Avoid splashing water against the uniform.

7. Regulate flow of water.

8. Wet hands and wrists thoroughly under running water. Keep hands and
forearms lower than elbows during washing.
9. Apply a small amount of soap lathering thoroughly.

10. Wash hands for at least one minute as follows:


a. Rub hands palm to palm
b. Rub hands palm to palm, with fingers interlaced with palm of
other hand
c. Rub hands palm to palm with fingers interlaced
d. Rub back of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked
e. Sweep hand from fingers to thumb
f. Rub tips of fingers in opposite palms-circular motion
g. Rub each wrist with opposite hand
11. Hold arms down elbow straight and rinse.

12. Dry thoroughly from the fingers to wrist to forearm with a paper towel
or face towel.
13. Discard paper towel or face towel.
14. Turn of faucet with foot pedal. (If there is no foot pedal, use paper
towel to turn off faucet.)

3. Peel apart sides of outer package of glove wrapper.

4. Lay inner package on clean, flat surface just above waist level.

5. Open package keeping gloves on inside wrapper.

6. Identify right and left gloves.

7. Start by applying glove on dominant hand. With thumb and first two
fingers of non-dominant hand, grasp edge of cuff of the glove of dominant
hand, touching only inside surface.
8. Carefully pull glove over dominant hand, ensuring cuff does not roll up
wrist.
9. With glove dominant hand, slip fingers underneath second glove’s cuff to
pick it up.
10. Carefully pull second glove over non-dominant hand, and do not allow
gloved hand to touch any part of the exposed nondominant hand.

11. When both gloves are on, interlock fingers of both hands to secure
gloves in position, being careful to touch only sterile sides.

12. Dispose of gloves:


a. Without touching the wrist, grasp outside of one cuff with another
gloved hand.
b. Pull glove off, turning it inside out. Grasp glove securely with the
hand holding it.
c. Tuck fingers of bare hand inside remaining glove cuff. Peel glove
off, inside out. Discard in receptacle
