3 PRACTICE
Practice 1:
Listen and practice. Then role-play with new expressions.

A: Hey, Margaret. How are you?


B: I’m not feeling well.
A: Oh? What’s wrong?
B: I have a headache. I think I’d
like to go home and rest.
A: That’s fine. Take it easy.

Practice 2: Work with a partner. Talk about a health problem and make a suggestion.

Student A: You’re not feeling well. Student B: Talk to A, choosing a suitable


Talk about one of the problems below. response from below.
1 a terrible backache Try not to sit for too long.
2 a toothache You need to drink a lot of juice.
3 a fever Why don’t you see a dentist?
4 a bad cold You should keep yourself warm.
5 a bad headache Why don’t you go home and take a rest?

Practice 3: Work in groups of three or four. Each student in the group will say his/her
health problem, the other three make suggestions. They cannot talk about the
same problem and make the same suggestion.

Practice 4: Work in pairs. Student A asks Student B how s/he is feeling. Make
suggestions and wish her/him well. Then change the role.
