STRIKING OF FORMWORK ELEVATED SLAB

1.0. OBJECTIVE

1.1. The objective of this method statement is to define the requirements and procedure of
formwork striking for soffit of beam and slab for King Abdullah Financial District
Project

2.0. SCOPE

2.1. Aplicable to beam and slab at all sub-structures & super structures area

3.0. REFERENCES

3.1. Project Approved Drawing & Specifications for form work (03100)
3.2. Site reqirements.
3.3. ACI code
3.4. Ministry of municipal and rural affairs of KSA

4.0. PROCEDURE

4.1. Submit IR for approval with minimum age of supported concrete of 14days. Safety
precautions should be check.

4.2. Remove formwork or bracing when concrete has gained sufficient strength (depend on
calculation sheet for reshoring slabs)

4.3. Strike reinforced concrete slab in two stages :


1. Ease all the supports
2. Starting at midspan, remove supports working towards columns and walls

4.4. In large areas, comprising internal and edge panels, strike internal bays first, followed
by edge and corner bays

4.5. Where soffit form is part of cantilever, start removal from tip and work towards wall,
beam and columns

4.6. After finish removal the formwork start install immediately backproping for every 3m or
2,25m (as per calculation for reshoring slabs).
