6. Rated Capacity – Load shall be lifted within rated capacity of the truck
6 7. Pallet handling – Loads should be safely arranged, stable, and centered. Materials
loaded on pallets shall be either be provided with pallet building or with straped
with belts. Loose materials loaded on pallet shall not be lowered or raises (except
for order picker)
8. Stacking load on racks – Operator shall follow below practices while stacking,
7 o Approach the stack at low speed and with the mast tilted 3 to 5’ backward;
o Lift the load slightly over the stacking height and move forward;
o When the load is over the stack, bring the mast to the vertical position;
o Deposit the load on the stack;
o Ensure that the load is securely stacked;
o Free the forks from the Toad by lowering the forks and/or by tilting the mast forward; and
8 9 o Reverse from the stack and lower the forks to the travelling position.
9. Removing Load from racks – Operator shall follow below practices while removing
load from racks,
o Approach stack and stop with forks about 0.3 m from the stack;
o Check that fork width is suitable and weight of load is within truck capacity;
o Adjust tilt and raise forks into position;
o Move slowly forward, inserting the forks into the fork pockets until heels of forks are against
the load;
o Raise forks until load is just clear of stack ana apply partial rear tilt;
o Ensure that the way is clear and reverse away from stack suficiently to clear load; and
o Lower load to travelling position, tilt fully backwards and move off steadily

15. Safe Parking – Operators are responsible for the safe parking, shall not leave
15 unattended. When parking a lift truck or when a lift truck will be left unattended
(the operator is more than 25 feet from the lift truck or the lift truck is not in his view), the operator shall
adhere to the following:
o Make sure that the lift truck is a safe distance from the edge of ramps or platforms while on any
elevated dock, or platform, or freight car.
o Never park the lift truck where it may block an exit, block a stairway, door, fire equipment, fire
extinguishers or electrical service panel.
16 o Fully lower the forks.
o Apply all brakes.
o Remove the key.
16. Battery Charging Station – Specific location shall be demarcated for battery charging
17. Eye Wash Station – an eyewash station shall be provided and shall be located within
25 feet of the battery charging area.

18. Basic Safety for Charging station - Below safety measures shall be provided at
battery charging area, but is not limited to:
o Water for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte
o acid resistant floor covering
o adequate ventilation for dispersal of fumes from batteries
o fire protection equipment and
o PPE’s - face shields, rubber aprons and rubber gloves.
o No Open Flames allowed and “No Smoking” Signs.

19 19. Battery Charging & Replacement – Shall be carried out only by authorized
competent person.
20. Pre-Operational Inspection – The operator shall conduct a complete lift truck safety
inspection prior to the operation of PIT’s (before each shift). Check for leaks,
damage,
foreign particles in wheel and proper functioning of horn, breaks, wheels.

21. Planned Preventive Maintenance – Preventive maintenance shall be performed as
recommended by the manufacturer. Documentation of repairs made, shall be
maintained with the PIT’s planned preventive maintenance (PPM) records. No
repairs shall be made to PIT’s in locations where flammable gases, flammable
vapors or combustible dusts are present.
22 22. PPE - A PIT operator inside Flipkart facility shall wear the below mentioned PPE’s,
whenever he / she is operating the vehicle.
o Safety Helmet (Hard Hats)
o Seat Belts (for AFL, RT)
o Full Body Harness with retractable belts (for OP)
o Reflective Jackets
o Safety Shoes
