n=0 an (z − a) and f2 (z) := n=0 bn (z − a) be two power series with
radius of convergence R > 0. Assume that there exists a sequence (zk ) in B(a, R)
such that i) limk zk = a and ii) f1 (zk ) = f2 (zk ) for all k ∈ N. Show that an = bn for
all n.

3. Does | cos(z)| → ∞ as |z| → ∞? How about the functions | sin(z)| and | exp(z)|?.
(
z sin(1/z) if z ̸= 0,
4. Let f (z) = Is the function f continuous at 0?
0 if z = 0.

5. Find all periods and zeros of cosh.

6. Show that the map cos : {z ∈ C : 0 < Re (z) < π} → C \ {(−∞, −1] ∪ [1, ∞)} is a
bijection.

7. Show that the function sin maps the set {x + iy : − π/2 < x < π/2, y > 0} on-
to the upper half plane {z ∈ C : Im(z) > 0}. Show also that sin maps the line
ℓc := {x + ic : x ∈ R} in to an ellipse.

8. Show that exp : C → C∗ is onto.

9. Let z ∈ C∗ . Show that there is a continuous choice of argument on the open ball
B(z, |z|).

10. Find the values of Log(−1), Log(i) and Log(exp(z)) for z ∈ C.

11. Show that (−1)i = {exp([2n + 1]π) : n ∈ Z}. Find ii .

12. Find all the solutions of z 1+i = 2.

13. What is the relation between the two definitions z 7→ z n for n ∈ Z and z ∈ C?

14. Let e = exp(1). Show that exp(z) ∈ ez .
