Developing An Argument

According to Forbes, Cristiano Ronaldo made $105 million in 2020, which may seem like too much. However, professional athletes work extremely hard, with Ronaldo training 5 times a week for 4 hours and playing games every weekend for over 20 years. While salaries seem large, the revenue from tickets, sponsors and media that pay athletes comes from fans supporting the organizations that the athletes represent. Whether athletes are overpaid is complicated as the pay reflects the dedication and unseen responsibilities of their roles.

Developing an argument
Are professional athletes overpaid?
Version 1:

According to Forbes (2020), Cristiano Ronaldo, Portuguese football player, made in

2020 $105 Million, which might us think that is too much. Even though the amount is
astronomical, there has been lot of hard work behind this salary. It is believed that
Ronaldo trains 5 times per week for 4 hours plus he plays games every weekend and
this routine has been like that for at least 20 years. Parker Reed, sports editor (2017)
said that professional athletes are highly paid because of the wealthy franchise, for
which they play. For example, their revenue comes from tickets from fans, sponsors,
streaming platforms but neither of that would have been without the athletes
representing their organizations. Overall, nothing seems black and white, because all
the dedication and responsibilities that we may not see is implicated into the pay.
