TRANSRIPTS
ENTRY TEST
1. Listen and circle the correct answers.
Albert Einstein was born in Germany on March 14, 1870. He attended elementary school in
Munich but he didn’t like it very much. He wasn’t a good reader, and spelling was difficult
for him. Albert Einstein didn’t learn to read until he was nine. Other students said young
Albert was unsociable. In fact, Albert Einstein found most school subjects boring. However,
he was passionate about maths and science. He left school at the age of fifteen.
In 1895, Einstein’s family moved to Switzerland and he began to study again. He finally
completed his studies in 1900.
Einstein was a scientific genius. By 1920, he was famous around the world. He won the Nobel
Prize for Physics in 1921.

TEST 1 (UNITS 1–3)

1. Listen and circle the correct answers.
Karate comes from the Japanese words ‘kara’ meaning ‘open’ and ‘te’ meaning ‘hand’. The
origins of karate can be traced back thousands of years to the island of Okinawa in Japan.
People who practise karate wear a special outfit – a white pair of loose-fitting trousers and a
jacket tied with a belt. The colour of the belts they wear shows their skill level although belt
colours often vary from one karate school to another. A white belt is usually used for people
who are just starting out, a black belt is for those with very high karate skills. Karate isn’t just
about breaking boards or being able to defend yourself. It’s also a great way to reduce stress
and build self-confidence.

TEST 2 (UNITS 4–6)

1. Listen and circle the correct answers.
Hi, I’m Ivo and I’ve got a big family – Mum, Dad, my older twin sisters Dora and Reni, me,
and … our cow Betty. We all share the household chores. I clear the table and take out the
rubbish after dinner. My sister Dora packs our lunch boxes every day and cooks dinner on
Tuesday and Friday. My sister Reni sets the table every day and does the washing-up on
Monday and Friday. My sisters take turns hoovering the floor and dusting the furniture three
times a week. Mum does most of the cooking, laundry and ironing. Dad is responsible for the
grocery shopping and taking care of Betty. I always help him feed the cow. It’s the chore I
like best! And Betty is responsible for giving milk!

TEST 3 (UNITS 7–9)

1. Listen and circle the correct answers.
Hey, bookworms! Greetings from London and me! I miss you, guys! I’m quite busy here so
I’ve only got time for this video message. As you probably know, I’m here with the theatre
group and we’re doing lots of rehearsals. London’s awesome! We’ve already done some
amazing things. We’ve seen Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. And we’ve been to a musical at

the Queen’s Theatre! It was superb! But we haven’t done much sightseeing yet. We’ve seen
Tower Bridge and the Tower of London and we’ve visited St Paul’s Cathedral. But we
haven’t visited the British Museum and we haven’t been to Hyde Park yet. I know these
places from Vicky’s photos so I really want to see them!

TEST 4 (UNITS 10–12)

1. Listen to the interview and circle the correct answers.
Interviewer: Hi, Pete! Can you please describe your job? What does a game designer do?
Pete: A game designer creates everything about the game – the world, the rules, the story, the
characters, the environment...
Interviewer: What skills do you need?
Pete: The ability to communicate to different people is the most important skill you should
have. You can have the greatest ideas in the world but if you can’t communicate them, you
won’t be able to create great games.
Interviewer: Tell us about a typical working day…
Pete: There’s no such thing! In over 17 years I haven’t had a single one!
Interviewer: What do you love about your job?
Pete: I love starting with an idea and working on this idea until ... until it becomes something
perhaps millions of people can experience and enjoy.

FINAL TEST
1. Listen and circle the correct answers.
Are you looking for adventure? Bewilderwood offers a unique experience. It’s nothing like
other theme parks. There are no rides, no special effects or fast-food restaurants – just lots of
outdoor fun while walking treetop walkways, crossing rope bridges and hiding out in tree
houses. Designed by the children’s author Tom Blofeld, the park’s full of magical creatures
from his books. There are also craft activities and seasonal events such as Halloween lantern
parades and Easter egg hunts.
Two-year olds to early teens are welcome! Your younger brothers and sisters will love the
story-telling sessions and puppet shows, while you’re enjoying the Sky Maze tree-top
adventure and zip wires.
Pay according to your height, not age: kids under 92 cm go free; kids between 92 and 105 cm
pay £14.50; and kids over 105 cm pay £16.50.
