I. Rhyming Words
These are words that have similar sounding final syllables.
A. Read each pair of word and notice the rhyme on the final syllable.

1. Answer the exercise on page 128 of your Pillars English Book

II. PHRASAL VERB

A. Read the dialog and notice each pair of highlighted words.

One Sunny morning in the school, the grade four pupils did their first science experiment.
Sir. Luke: Good morning class! Are you ready for the experiment today?
We will fill up this container with water.
Wyatt: Teacher, can we put off this experiment?
Sir. Luke: Why, Wyatt?
Wyatt: I’m afraid, It might blow up.
Sir. Luke: Don’t be afraid, children. We’re just trying out a simple experiment.
Class: Okay, Sir. Luke.

The highlighted pair of words are called phrasal verbs.


A phrasal verb consists of a verb and another word, usually a preposition. The combination creates a verb with a different
meaning.
